Monday through Thursday of this week, they've extended their operating hours to 8pm.
Not bad for a park that couldn't open their new attraction. They wouldn't be doing it if they weren't doing well so far. The message is in the barker on the CP home page.

The operating calendar is the same...
EDIT: Okay, I see it now. Woohoo! One more hour at the park tommorrow.

It's a smart idea. I was there Monday, Wednesday, Friday and today (Sunday) for 7:00 closes, and the park was still really busy at closing time. The crowd levels definitely warranted staying open an extra hour.

Ralph, any work going on in the canyon this evening?

Ride on, MrScott!
I don't know if it is just my imagination, but attendance seems stronger this year than at the same time last year.
I hope that is the case, and if so, I hope it continues and they have a great season this year.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
^ - at least until people realize that the park lied to them. Cedar Point knew 18 months ago that Maverick wasn't going to open on time and should not have lied to them in September when they announced the ride. Once the people open their eyes and see the blatant lies that have been spewed forth by this evil company they will stop going.

I really hope this trend continues and we see the park push the closing time out later through the rest of the season. Probably not so much during the week, but maybe we'll get later weekend closings.
Goodbye MrScott

I think that attendance is really higher than usual. I'm not sure why, but the park has been much busier both times I've been there than similar days on the past. As much as I hate waiting in loner lines, I love to see the park succeed. I just remember that the better attendance, the more money comes in, which leads to improvements for the park.
Count me in as one of the people who have noticed higher attendance. I went three times this past week hoping for the walk ons that the week after opening weekend is famous for. Instead I've found the park to be decently crowded every day. Wait times have still been under 10 minutes for most rides, but certainly no walk ons.
