hotel rooms and saturday crowds?

I don't know the official tally, but the park was MOBBED. In the morning, the gate attendants were saying they were expecting 40-50K in crowds. In the evening we heard it was at 65K with people still coming in (but that number came from a Mean Streak op, so take it with a grain of sale). This morning, an attendant at the Magnum gate said 74,000 people... Given how JAMMED the parking lot and midways were (Fright Zone was declared one-way, back to front, so that people could even move), it would not surprise me...

I was at the point on Saturday and even though it was crowded I had the best time. Who ever lft should not have.

I agree with James. I had a blast being a part of the insanity of the huge crowds! It was so fun and festive. We got a beer and sat down and enjoyed the people wandering by! I spent the whole weekend there and loved every minute of it.

wow i went on saturday and it was amazing, we left here at 1245 and didnt get to cedar point til 4, and normally it would take 45 min. ..we had to park in the back of 43E. every queue line was filled up to the max, i loved it, i had so much fun! they had to shut off the fog in the fright zone for like 20 min for some reason and all the screamesters blew their whistles and gathered w/ some security, im guessing cuz the crowds were so big? i hope no one got hurt though. oh yeah werewolf canyon was so awesome..could not see a thing and i was so scared! that line was amazingly long too!

Saturday was just plain insane. I'm glad we were season pass holders and checked out of BE and headed on Point this morning.

We saw 2 other people walking the Frontier Trail after riding MF & Mantis. Many of the other rides were walk ons, until early afternoon.

We rode any and all that we wanted this morning...in fact, my group had a whole CCMR train to itself.

Sweet!

"If we go any faster, she'll blow apart for sure!"

It's been awhile since I've been on the board, but I had to say something about Saturday. It was the busiest day I have ever seen at Cedar Point including all of the years that I have visited. On Independence day, I got there at 1 and had to park in 63 or 64 G or something like that. But there were parking spaces all through out the park. Well on Saturday, it was filled all the way back to 75K, people were parked in the grass and everybody was double parked. you could drive up and down the parking lot and there was no where to park. I had to park illegally on the pedestrian crosswalk if I didn't want to leave and go home. It was like Christmas shopping.

We got there at 5, didn't get into the park untul 6:15, Wicked Twister broke down on us after forty five minutes of waiting. We went to Top Thrill Dragster and waited an hour outside of the queu and two and a half hours inside of the queu, it was great as always. It was my ninth time and I think I am starting to get over it. After that, I got to be the line leader at Werewolf Canyon after waiting two hours for the three minute walk through. It was great though short, they pumped the fog so good that my group of about twenty was dismantled and lost after I lead them behind the bushes, into the rocks, onto the wall, I ran into the fence so hard I got the wind knocked out of me. Even though I stopped everyone and yelled at them to stick together, they were lost. So I turned around and yelled at them "I specifically said, stick together". So I just left them, :-D. It was great though, I didn't expect them to get so close, be so big, and they could see clearly through the fog.

After that we went to the Pharaoh's whatever haunted house at Disaster Transport which was fun. Just to let everyone know, after the initial set of queu bars inside of the building, there are no more lines. The attraction starts at the door that leads outside of the room. Just to let everyone know because some idiots waited fifty minutes and thought that they were going to have to wait longer after entering that doorway and left. That's after they yelled at the girl selling the 3-D glasses because they couldn't get a refund. Who really wants to wear their used, sweat soaked glasses? Nobody.

It was the first time I ever came to a dead stop at Cedar Point, there was a traffic jam on the railroad crossing between mantis and millenium force. Alot of people didn't know Fright Zone was closed off from that direction and I didn't know either. My first Halloweekend with Fright Zone, last time I went to Halloweekend was in 1997 and I don't remember it being closed off. But anyway, There was one moment that we got stuck infront of the Snack bar and couldn't walk or move for, I would estimate at least two minutes. Weird, but hilarious.

We had heck of alot of fun even though we only were able to enjoy three attractions in six hours, mind you. But I don't know if it is worth another drive next saturday, even if it is colder, I know everybody and their mom is going. Entire store fulls of people, my sister's in-laws, their friends, their family, my parents who never go. I might go just to see how insane it is, but don't mind seeing a Green Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo there an hour and a half early before the park is open. I don't want to have to park illegally anymore.

A more reliable number places the park in the range of 51 - 55 thousand yesterday. Turns out it was the 49th busiest day in park history. I think everyone did an awesome job even through the difficulties.

The dippin dots guy was right, because he told me 55 thousand too! Seems to me that that huge of a crowd would be a bit higher on the list than 49th, but I imagine once you get up that high they're all relatively close together.
