Who goes to Cedar Point to bask in the sadness of recent events?

I don't see that as a con at all. Not at all. In fact, that would be my #1 item listed under PRO.
We have been BOMBARDED with the images, ribbons, fox news, testimonies, movies, etc.. for 5 years now. I think the capitalization on such a tragedy is finally slowing down and it should stay that way.
It was a horrible, horrible day in american history and I don't think most of us want to relive that any more. I think it's safe to say that the victims are in our thoughts and hearts whenever it's time to get patriotic, without having to see, hear, or say "NINE ONE ONE NEVER FORGET".

Saw the show tuesday night and it was pretty enjoyable. I agree that laser's would have been much better, but the firewater and fireworks were cool. Best part of the show by far was the college football part. I am a huge Michigan fan and was cheering loudly for Michigan and getting booed loudly by OSU fans. I gave it right back and booed OSU though. That is the best part of the show and you expect to get booed when you go to an amusement park in Ohio. It was really neat to have the crowd divided by the college football and then doing the America part and uniting the crowd again. I wouldn't go out of my way to see the show again, but as long as they keep the football part they will be okay.
In my opinion it's a good thing 9/11 isn't incorporated... something patriotic, okay; something reminding people of a horrible day in US history when they're suppose to be having a fun day, bad idea.

I saw it on sat. night and thought it was ok. I was just expecting something not as random as it was with all the animated cartoons and stuff.
I can play the songs and turn on the random visualizations on my windows media player and see the same thing...
Oh I almost forgot... I need a few butane lighters, and some sparklers and fountains ;)
Ok... maybe not... but close enough

I was generally unimpressed. I did not like how they pushed that the firewater affect was brand new, and (oh) never used before, cuz I can go outside with a can of hairspray and a lighter to make the brand new effect. And I do not know how they can justify calling it new because I thought they had the same exact effect last year when it sang "Looking for some hot stuff baby tonight."
also, I think that it was pretty pathetic advertising for halloweekends. I miss the Lasers :(

Okay, this may be going out on a limb here...but if CP could ever pull something like the show at Disney's EPCOT Millennium Celebration...now that would be cool.

I was thinking they had this type of effect during one song on the show last year too.
So, get in line for mille or look at the show? Which one should I do?
Do any rides close for the show?
Let's Get Weird.
Get in line. No Question. We saw it, and it was disappointing. Plus, we lost a wallet sitting there :) Thank God they found it!
No, this is not the effect utilized in last year's show. That effect is an actual pyrotechnic firework, this effect is attached to a gas line. They give a similar effect, but they're not the same.

As far as I know, the following rides close early for the show now:
-Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad
-WildCat
-Iron Dragon
-Dodgem
Sky Ride, Space Spiral, and the Giant Wheel also all used to close, but it seemed to me that Sky Ride was still operating during the show, and there isn't much reason to close the Giant Wheel or Space Spiral anymore without the lasers.

So, I saw the show this evening. And, coming from someone who works in this field, the show was not very good. Lots of the same old, and a lot of overuse of effects. There was nothing to hold the show together and it was far from having the thrill/fun level is once had. ...And what was up with that strange "HalloWeekends" part in the middle; I couldn't believe they did that.

While I haven't seen the show this year, I have always kind of wished they would just use more fireworks - or even only fireworks. I'd rather have a great 10 minute fireworks show then series of unrelated 3D animations. I think you get what you pay for, and this doesn't seem to be a priority for the park. I don't think I've ever heard the words "Kiss Goodnight" from anyone there. (But I haven't heard 420-ft. coaster at EPCOT either).
Beware the Kraken
I was so looking forward to this summer lights show that I made a special trip to see. I work night shift and went up there before my 1am shift. well I think I needed to be on acid or something else to enjoy or get this show. It was not fun like it used to be. And it seem to jump around from scene to scene and all those weird colors and crap, just did not get it.

Very well said. I would much rather see a good 10 minute firework show everynight than a boring, random 20 minute show that doesn't have any plot like Hot Summer Lights.
I finally saw Hot Summer Lights this week, and my favorite part of the show was the Pink Panther Remix before the show started. Who does that version? The first time I saw Hot Summer Lights, I couldn't believe how lame it was. I watched it a second time, and parts of the show did grow on me. They need to bring the lasers back, along with the fire water, and then, they may have something good.
