Does any employee ever recall some of the rides they hitched with guests? I must have gotten 20 rides from guests into the park when the toll gates were at the beginning of the causeway. Always a neat start to a day!
That's quite interesting...to say the least

Some guests are kind of weird!
aww, its all part of the experience.
i never got a ride on-point with guests...but one day waiting for a cab at the mall a nice old couple pulled up and offered a ride back to commons. They said they havent been out that way in years. Very nice people, and their dog was awesome. wouldnt take my money tho.
hehe, then there was a cab ride we took with a prostitute and some guy who picked her up. Man, we stopped at about 20 motels (they never did find one.) And here is pavla (my buddy from the czech republic) in the backseat screaming at the cab driver that he's insane and she 'wants to go home right now.' hehe, it was a funny hour. we never did pay the guy.

That was a real time saver. I think we walked into Commons at 1 am, while there was still hundreds of others waiting for the bus. There was no way I was going to wait almost an hour just to get on Blue Thunder.------------------

LOL, I don't remember it being called Blue Thunder, maybe Blue Lemons :)
Hopefully, they will have the transportation system a little better this year. The long waits seems to be a reoccuring observation (when I was there to say the least).
I have to admit, I have hitched a ride or two from other people because I was either running late or didn't want to feel like a tin can :)
Of course, based on some of the waits I've had to get the guest shuttle, there might only be one. :)
They had both busses running, but even that was not enough. From my experience, the shuttle situation isn't normally too bad, it's when they have the parking bans that things start to get crazy. Using the guest shuttles is a good idea, but even that wouldn't be enough. They need an extra bus or two for those busy days...it is just ludicrous for the employees to be stuck at the park until the middle of the night waiting to get home.

It would be silly to buy more busses for the K days per season with parking bans. However, renting a few extra for those days might make sense. Often, bus companies want minimum rental durations of several hours---clearly not needed here. But, they might bite on short rentals on several different days as a package.

I've never hitched a ride since I had my own car but I knew quite a few people who did and from what they told me, it seems like quite a experience.

Yeah, this past 4th of July was absolutely insane. There must have literally been hundreds of employees waiting for the bus, and more kept coming every minute. I had to wait for four or five buses to go by before getting on one, and even then I was lucky to be able to. CP definetly needs to do something about the shuttle situation on days they know will be busier than usual (and when the parking bans are in effect). They had both busses running, but even that was not enough. From my experience, the shuttle situation isn't normally too bad, it's when they have the parking bans that things start to get crazy.
