Nobody likes price increases..but just take a look:

Category...................... 2005 Price .....................2008 Price
Funday .......................... $44.95 ..........................$43.95
Junior .............................$24.95.......................... $19.99
Starlight ..........................$27.00...........................$25.95
Combo (Platinum) ...........$154.00........................ $150.00

Cedar Point should have waited until last year or this year to lower the prices instead of back in 2005. Even though there wasn't any new roller coasters it was too early. Of course $1 increase in a funday ticked doesn't really matter compared to the hundreds of dollars some people will pay for gas.

And exactly how did Cedar Point know back in 2005 that gas prices would be close to $4/gallon? I think the pricing structure is fair for everything you get. I still think the food prices and $3 Pepsi's are out of line.

Sorry CP, you lost my vote. I used to purchase 4 season passes each and every year, not this year.

I was considering going 1 day this summer, but the way it looks now with the rake in prices. Screw you!

By my estimation, Cedar Point has lost approximately $ 1,000 of business from me alone.

And I know that I am not alone.

Maybe next year???

I guess I can understand not going. Vote with your feet.

But the venom over a 4 dollar price increase? If you can't afford that, you probably shouldn't have gone in the first place.

I've often said that owning/running a parking lot is like a license to print money. Seriously, what is the overhead? Paying the people to wave the flags, replace a light every now and then, and perhaps restrip the spaces.

There is also the cleaning up after the slobs that use the parking lot for everything from a garbage can to diaper recepticle every night. Which, on busy days, can be a full 8 hour job with a big street sweeper. Now if the wind switches directions half way through the job, well that just makes it all the more fun. :)

Well, I can understand the concerns about $4 ticket price increases. What are the folks getting on August 5th that the folks on July 5th didn't get?

It is one thing for a Walt Disney World or Universal to raise rates mid-season. They have no off-season any more.

But, when a seasonal park does it midway through the season I think that is a sign of bad things indeed.

Good luck finding a park cheaper than CP! CP gate prices are quite a deal!

It isn't the gate that will kill ya (well, it will kill some). It is the rest of the day that really takes a toll.

The online deals are still the same aren't they? I can't remember what it started at when I got the email.

family and friends four pack of admission tickets to Cedar Point* for only $132!

maybe they're just trying to make the deal look even better....

Cosign. They are kind of slick about how they get you.

Obviously you haven't been outside of CP then...while the up front ticket prices may look okay at best...the value for your buck, if there is one, is quickly lost in everything else that is priced horribly with little value...

I can think of several parks whose ticket prices are much better, and offer way better value in the park than Cedar Point...

Times are hard, and are getting worse for a lot of people...you need to think open mindedly and consider that not everyone views a four dollar increase as drops in a bucket.

Michigan Adventure is a park that is somewhat cheaper than Cedar Point. It may not have 17 coasters but so what.

And Forbes just came out with a list of "Dying Cities". Four of the top ten were in Ohio (Cleveland, Youngstown, Dayton and Canton...I think) and two were in Michigan (Detroit and Flint).

Gee, why did Geauga Lake close? Why are the numbers bleak at Cedar Point? It isn't rocket science.

Duh, thay wantid 2 clothes it cause it wuz competishun 2 cp!!!11!!!

Forbes has a top 10 for everything now. The magazine reads like a fashion rag. I'll give you Youngstown, Detroit and Flint, but come on. Things aren't that bad. Cleveland proper isn't all bad, Columbus is generally awesome and Cincinnati burbs can barely manage their growth.

Family Circle just named Brunswick a top 10 city for raising a family, so there. :)
