HELP!!!

Okay, so I'm really not as desperate as the title entails. But I do have a few questions to calm my nerves a little. I process May 25th, and I live in Independence, KS so it will be quite a drive.

1) Should I bring a small t.v. with me to the dorms?

2) What housing is the best to live in? Are the cheaper apartments better than the more expensive dorms? Which is worth the money?

3) I'm going to show up a day early, will I get to go around the park free?

4) With the hefty work schedule, how much real time is left to enjoy the park?

5) Is the park gigantic? (I don't know, i've never been there. But, I'm a rollercoaster fan though. The maps on the internet haven't looked to impressive.)

6) Is the weather usually sweltering?

7) I'm going to work an arcade, is it a crappy job? (I'm at a weird age. I've graduated, but I don't turn 18 until July 11, which sucks.)

8) Is anyone (a guy) arriving around the 25th that wants a roomate?

Thanks for all of your help! This site is great!

Ryan

1) Chances are your roommates will already have a TV in their room. . .if you have room to store it in your trunk, then maybe bring it. . .but the rooms are small and with 4 roommates in the dorms, 2-4 in the apartments, and 2-3 in Cedars, there isn't much room at all for extra stuff.

2) Housing is extremely full. I am guessing you are a guy. . .you MIGHT be able to get into a dorm or apartment that has one opening. I know they are shipping people right to Cedars, though. . .stuff is very full. All rooms that HAD 3 of the 4 beds full are being filled with the extra person. It's tough to find a spot. . .but they will stick you somewhere. I definately like the dorms the most, the apartments (Commons) are nice if you have friends there, (Bayside is full), and Cedars. . .have fun! I know I wouldn't live there, ever. It's OK for some people, not me.

3) Uh. . .showing up a day early? As far as I know, you can only 'come' on the day it says to on your contract. As far as I know, anyway. But you wouldn't be able to come any earlier than that and get in the park. You can't process in before the day they say on your contract. . .as far as I know.

4) There is ALWAYS time to enjoy the park. Chances are you will only work 6 days a week. Some days, you will have a shift that ends early or starts late, or a split shift. Don't worry. . .you will have time. Plus there are the ride nights.

5) Yes the park is gigantic. I visited each year since I was little, now I am 18 and working here, and I just finished 'visiting' every place in the park. . .Wait. . .nope, I still have to go some places like Challenge Park, Soak City, and others I am sure. It's giant -- 68 rides, 16 coasters, hotels, restaurants, theaters, ice rink, waterpark, beach -- there is no place like it.

6) I have been here for a few weeks, and it's been cold and rainy the majority of the time. I am sure that in the summer, yes, temperatures will be anywhere between 70 and up to the high 90s. But oh well, free beach and Soak City. It's not that bad.

7) The arcades look like they would be fun jobs. I am guessing you will be in the shade (consider yourself lucky.) I don't really know, but, it's just a job, don't worry. The main fun is AFTER work, hanging out with people. It doesn't matter what your job is.

8) Unless you are moving into Cedars (on point), there will only be single spots left in a dorm or apartment at Commons. There are no two open spaces in any rooms off point. They are either reserved or taken.

Hope that helps!

Ross: Do you have a minute? I’d like to talk to you about something I’m, I’m really uncomfortable talking about.

Joey: Sure. What? About uh, you showering with your mom?

Ross: I actually had a topic in mind!

I personally would be bored with games, but some people love it. I'm not totally sure but I'm pretty certain you might be able to switch after a while and retrain fully if you really wanted to do so... retraining would be the key word here. know you can change rides (I'm a ride host) so I'd assume if they needed people then you could change to whatever if you really really really hated being in games. It's your own choice though. Some people really love games, so I would try it, see how you like it, and after like two weeks or so tell your TL or sup what you want to do next and they can tell you or find it out for you at least...

The nice thing about the point is the fact that it is on a peninsula (I know I spelled that wrong, but it's 12:00 and I worked today... I'm fried, ok?!?!). This being said since it has so much water around it, it really keeps a lot cooler than in-land locations. For example if you are in a ride under the overhang and you have clear shot of the lake, you will probably get a nice breeze. I've been cold for most days, I've only been able to truely wear shorts. It's been like 60 degrees the past week or so, but it does get a lot warmer. It really depends on when you're working from and working til. I would bring more "lighter" clothing for the rest of the summer, but come mid to late august you will want to have heavier things. As the other person said... the main fun is after work, but I work in rides and work a lot closer to more people (ideally when we have everything open we will have 12 ppl working at any given time) than a person in games would ever have. Depending on where you work you will have anywhere from 1 - 6 or 7 ppl around you that you can 'talk' to, but I'm not sure if the games ppl are as close or whatever... I've never worked games; I wouldn't know...

As for any of the housing q's I just don't know... I live at home cause I only live like 30 min away with CP traffic, so ... I don't live on location but from what I've heard it's fun... although I can't really see how that could be seemings how they cram 3 - 4 ppl in a room smaller than my DORM at college when I had only one roommate, but *anyways* I gotta go ... work tomorrow... same 'ol same 'ol

actually you spelled peninsula right!!

I also process in on May 25th and I just got hired today. Kinda quick I know but I wanna get out of Toledo. What else would one need to bring to the point with them the day they process in? Should I bring all my clothes or a radio? I've never lived away from home and have no idea what its like but my cousin's wife worked there in 94 and said she had a blast. Can't wait it's gonna be a great summer
