PointBuzz just tweeted that GateKeeper's height requirement will be 52". Discuss. :-)

I'm sort of surprised it's not 54", but from what I've heard with how wing rider restraints are then 52" sounds good. At least that opens this ride up to a little larger population. Now it's time for some more rides for 48" or less in the next few years.

And there's a little 11 year old girl at my house that says there is no way she will ride that thing. Hopefully she'll change her mind. She really enjoyed Maverick last year, so she should certainly should enjoy this if she can get past the whole leg dangling thing.
...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
I am excited for gatekeeper, but the park does need more rides for 48" or 42" children. So many kids will walk into the park this year and be all excited, then go up to the ride and measure themselves, only to find out they need to wait another year or two to ride. (not everyone thinks to check the website for the listed height requirement....some folks don't even have a computer...)
You could also easily argue that if a kid is short of the requirement for riding then it's just something else for them to anticipate in the following year or so... particularly if they are budding park geeks like us, they'll have lots to look forward to over the long offseason...

Does anyone know how exactly they decide these requirements? Like is there a process they need to follow?Cedar Point works with the manufacturer and they decide the safest height requirement. B&M makes the final call, I believe.
The manufacturers set ride requirements. Ohio law mandates parks must adhere to the manufacturer recommendations. Cedar Point often has erred on the side of caution and enforced restrictions greater than the recommendations (see Millennium Force 54" restriction). Or at least that's the way I understood the process working.

I was told that Ohio required a higher height restriction that the Manufacture recommended. I have no reason to doubt the person who told me. Though they may have been misinformed.
