Heaven on Earth-June 18. 2001

I've saide this before, and I'll say it again, Cedar Point is heaven on Earth for me.

I arrived at the park about 10, just as the gates were opening. Instead of taking my first Millenium Force ride then, I decided to hit my first ride on Power Tower. Power Tower was a walk-on at this time so I took my number and strapped in. At this point, my mind was dancing with thoughts, When would I get launched? How far up would we go? Will I be ab....OH MY DEAR GOD! Suddenly the car shot up and I soon was looking over Lake Erie at 240 ft. The airtime at the top was unbelivable. A good 3 seconds of floating fun.

I then walked over and hit Corkscrew. Nothing spectacular. I did sit beside some guy with a season pass. If that was you I was the guy wearing the blue Old Navy shirt.

Anyways, I tried to hit Magnum and Gemini but the group I was with were chickens so we had to hit the water rides instead. First was Thunder Canyon, I didn't get too wet so we walked over to Snake River Falls. I'm still shocked how steep that ride is.

We started walking towards the front of the park. We hit Iron Dragon, since I absolutely hate Iron Dragon I won't even comment on it. I then got a ride on Raptor. Since the front seat queue was filled up I just got a ride in the middle. Even riding in the middle, Raptor is a great ride. You would be proud Raptor Jo, it's my second favorite ride ever. My first will be revealed later.

Then, we ate lunch. There's nothing like cold KFC chicken with potato salad and chips. I then joined the second half of our group. It was me, the 16 year-old geek, and the 38 year-old prison employee who jumped out of planes in the Army. To say this man was an adrenaline junkie would be an understatement. He's a blast to work out with.

Since it was close to the picnic pavilion, we decided to hit Raptor. For being 80 degrees without a single cloud in the sky and for being a sunday, the wait was 25 minutes. We decided that since the queue was only half full for the front, that we would try that. What a difference 3 rows makes on a coaster. However, this time I noticed some head-banging. Maybe I'm just sensitive.

We decided that it was time to conquer all height fears we had. It was time for BMF, the blue Millennium Force. The wait was outstanding, we were in the station in a half hour. Then I had heard all the sounds that I had remembered from the Promo Videos, the song remixes. As the yellow train zipped past me my blood pressure and heart rate raised. I asked my riding partner what the hell I was doing. Then I started seeing the thumbs up. Now would be a good time to tell you that I got a good ride host who didn't staple me. I was quoted later saying "OHMIGOD" about 100 times. We lifted out of the station and were launched up the hill. I looked left and saw Lake Erie. I looked right and saw Magum get smaller and smaller. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw the beacon. I stuck my hands up and got ready to scream my head off. As we were launched over the hill I leaned back in my seat, afraid I would fall out. As we reached the bottom I remember that my eyes started to go black, but I quickly regained my sight. Great first impression, a near black-out The rest of the ride was just a blur. I got a good 3 seconds of air on the Magnum hill, and 4 seconds on the return hill. I got off the ride, attempted to get my legs back, and bought my picture, which turned out well, and took a breath. I rode MF again at night, and I have to say, it was better the second time. Also, if you rode MF at about 10 minutes till 10 P.M. and you rode with some kid in a blue shirt in seat 3-1, that was me.

We rode Magnum, Gemini, and the drop side of Power Tower, and watched the Summer Spectacular. On the way home, as I drove in the darkness, I almost felt like I was still riding MF, and let me tell you, it was a great feeling.
