Hat Tip to Gemini Ride Op

A few weeks back I had a run in with a ride op on the Gemini. I couldn't ride with the people I had wanted to ride with, because I had alread secured myself down. The other people in my party weren't able to ride because the bars were already down in the seats that my party was going to sit at (behind me). After a fuss I had put up just before take off, and after I exited the ride and waited for my party to meet me...the op an I had a few words. However; I would like to tip my hat to that ride op... even though I was thoroughly upset by not getting to ride with the party I was with... that op was VERY "by-the-book" and never lost his cool! GREAT JOB to the GEMINI CREW for knowing how to be cordial under stress!!! ::tipping hat::
Honestly, as an old gemini worker I say thanks...in a way. You've gotta understand that when roller coasters run they run on interval and, espically with Gemini this year, interval is EXTREMELY important. If it means that the lap bars are locked...then they are locked. I just don't understand why everyone has to loose thier head when they didn't make it into the train in time. Gemini's line is usually shorter than the ride anyway.

First off, I too would like to apologize for your group getting split up. On the other hand, I would like to say that we give people more than enough time to get in the trains. I'm not sure what happened in your case, but usually when people get split up, it's because they just stand there and look at the seat instead of actually getting in. When we have 24 seconds before the ride will shut itself down and people are stopped at random spots throughout the track, we don't have time to unlock lapbars and let more people in. I know it really sucks, and I feel bad when we have to make people ride by themselves, especially children. I'm glad that things were settled between you and the ride op, because a lot of people just walk off mad at us for something that we can't control.

Well said, Brent.
Well... it didn't end on a good note. I was just commenting on how cordial the op was. The incident occured on a slow night right before closing. The bars were down because people hadn't ridden in that seat before my kids were about to ride. I had no idea that I had to "check" the seats to see if they would be able to ride with me. I just jumped in, thinking they were jumping in behind me, and they would have been able to if the train hadn't come back with those seats empty and bars down.

The thing I don't get is why did you feel it necessary to go off on the ride op? Honestly, I don't understand why people go off on us, it's not our fault that you hopped in without noticing that the lap bars behind you needed to be lifted. Nor is it our fault that your party couldn't lift the bars. For safty sake, if no one is sitting in a seat we are required to buckle the bealt and pull the lap bars down. That way a seat bealt doesn't fly out and damnage the rides safty system, or hit someone. We're just trying to do our job. In no way are we ever "out to get" the guest.

Another great comment, Sabrina. He should go to SFWOA and see what their crews are like.
**applause** I completely agree, Jim. I mean, go to one of those ride ops and ream them out...you'll get quite a different response. I'm sure it'll at least be colorful and explicit.

Question for you, adroit_001, do you ream out the girl working at the counter of the bakery because you let the bread get moldy? Or do you give the waitress at the restraunt a hard time because you messed up your own order. You never answered my question...Why did you feel the need to take it out on the Ride Op? Was he/she plotting against your vacation?

I was impressed to see the train get stopped as we were pulling out of the Gemini station last Saturday because one of the ppl on our train had mentioned to the ride op that a fellow passenger's seat belt was not fastened. The train barely stopped in the station, however, the situation was resolved and we were quickly on our way to another great Gemini ride. However, must have been one of the few occasions that I saw the red train win. :)
Now Sabrina--you and your roller coaster kids may be "Cordial" but on TC we're just racist motherf***rs :)

the best thing about gemini is that if you do get split up all you have to do is get right back in line and ride again..its not like there is a wait ;-) props to the cordial ride host
Hey nate that big black woman had the right to call you that. You didn't let her do what she wanted to do. Its not against the rules, you just didn't like her!
