Has Cedar Point been in any movies?

One of the writers grew up in Sandusky.

When they shot that episode of the BB I remember cables and cameras all over PKI! Yuck!

Actually I believe prehistoric forest is near Sandusky isn't it?

Yes, it is near Marblehead, west of Sandusky.

What is really strange is that in Tommy Boy they made it look like Prehistoric Forest was far from Sandusky.

I swear that the quick downtown shot is a drive through downtown Sandusky.

Yes, Prehistoric Forest is on the Marblehead Peninsula. I grew up about 500 yards from it. For those of you that don't know where Marblehead is in relation to Cedar Point, When you ride the MF you can see accross the water to what looks like an island. (as you climb the lift hill, of course) You can see the Marblehead Lighthouse, as well. If you look a little to the west on the peninsula, you will see a white colored water tower. Prehistoric Forest is at (just about) the base of that tower. My nephews worked at Prehistoric Forest one year. I seem to recall them talking about a camera crew being there "taking footage for an as yet to be named motion picture", as they were told. I just called them(him). He didn't even realize the connection. Said he's going to rent it, now. Funny how that works.

More later, if you want it.

It was mentioned in the movie "Slaughter of the Innocence" Starring Scott Glenn. The movie was also filmed moslty in Cleveland, but no screen shots of CP. The little boy in the movie to sneak away from his mom to be with his dad in Utah told his mom he was staying overnight at a friends and going to Cedar Point the following day.

It was not filmed at the Prehistoric Forest on Marblehead.

Finally, an answer to a prehistoric question.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

Took more than 21 years. But definitely worth the wait. I can die in peace now.

Was the Sky Ride running while they were shooting though?

Close Encounters of the 4th Kind (CE4K) was shot in Sandusky & the only movie I know of that was also shot in the park. It also has Dick Kinzel in it.

Ahhhhh C.P. My Happy Place!

The Shining was initially set to take place at Breakers. But they couldn't come up with a contract. Fun fact there are some good movies filmed at Chippwea Lake park about 45 min away. Close in counters of the fourth kind is awesome!!!

Swan Song has at least one scene with the park in the background. It is from the same person who did Edge of Seventeen, with some of the same actors.

CE4K is also on YouTube. Lots of great park footage from 2004.

There was a not so popular movie called Slaughter of the Innocence with Scott Glenn back in 1993. They mention Cedar Point in the film. The movie was filmed and based mostly in Cleveland and even filmed mostly in Cleveland.

Go to 54.46.

Kind of cool that they mentioned Cedar Point but unfortunately no scenes filmed there.

That there Clark is an RV.....

In the sequel to "A Christmas Story", the family's road trip to a lake side resort named "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss". On the back bumper of the family car is a late 1950's Cedar Point sticker.
