Has Cedar Point been in any movies?

I read were the independent film "Edge of Seventeen" was supposed to be set at CP but the park had a fictitious name. Was there any park scenes shown in the film?
There is some scenes in there from Space Spiral. The shots of the park in the movie were from 1996 or 97 as there is Mantis but no PT. The movie however is suppost to take place in the early 1980's as the uniforms the actors wear are of the foods division from that time period. The whole story line is of a teenager who gets a summer job at CP in the "Grub Wagon" (a.k.a. Chuck Wagon) and realizes his sexuality as being gay from working with a group of other gay employees at the park. The movie is based on the typical staff and work atmophere at CP since Cedar Point is known in the gay community all over the United States as a popular place for gay people to work durring the summer.

Was this shot with the park's blessing or guerrilla-style?

I just remember the amusement park scene from the company picnic in 'Tommy Boy' (supposedly set in Sandusky) being oh-so-not-very Cedar Point.

I don't think they shot anything in Sandusky for Tommy Boy, did they? I do remember seeing CP mugs and a calendar (I think).

It would be nice to see CP in a regular feature film, just to satisfy CP enthusiasts if for nothing else :)

They did not shoot any of Tommy Boy in Sandusky. The producers of The Shining had considered Hotel Breakers to be the setting but when the crew wanted to shoot a crash scene off the causeway the boo-birds chased the movie away.

Fast and Furious 2 was being shot outside my house for the last two weeks. Look for an interesting scene of a car racing under a semi-truck.

In the "close but no cigar" department, a special two-episode version of the "Brady Bunch" was shot at PKI (before the "P") in the mid 70's...

Yes I remember when they filmed that episode of the brady bunch at PKI. What a rotten show, I wonder if F Henderson can "help" a beachball through a garden hose?

I just read a review of the movie"edge of 17". It is definitely not a "guys night out" movie! The 'ole pucker factor kicked in as I read the review. One giant YUCK!

Wasn't the real Sandusky airport in 'Tommy Boy'?

------------------
The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

Yes, it was. Complete with direct flights to Cuyahoga Falls!

Seriously, no it wasn't. I read somewhere that it was actually a Chicago airport, but I'm not sure. Every time I drive past the airport on Rt. 6 between the chausse the causeway I have to laugh about the movie.

Tommy Boy was shot in Ontario, Canadia, with the exception of one scene shot in the Mohave Derert.-jon

I could have swore one seen in Tommy Boy had some sort of Sandusky Brewery or something like that just before Brian Dennehy dies in the movie.

Also, the episode of the Brady Bunch at KI was called "The Cincinnati Kids". The only reason why I want to see that one at all is because it takes place at KI. Any other episode, I could care less about.

Punk Inc. has it right - most of Tommy Boy was shot in the Toronto area. Lots of local actors - including a few that worked on one of my wife's TV shows - are in supporting roles.

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

Well, the Tommy situation doesn't surprise me. Its hard enough getting studios to come out to the Midwest to shoot on location when Toronto and Vancouver have entire infrastructures prepared to handle such large productions and can replicate almost any type of location in the world (except the desert).

I'm not even sure if it would be in CP's best financial interest to allow a production to shoot there, especially considering their weather-limited seasonal operating schedule. Which is another reason why a production wouldn't choose CP for any sort of amusement park scene.

Still, it'd be pretty nice to see the park make its big screen debut someday.

There is a shot or two of "Downtown" Sandusky in the movie. Very short shot though.

In the opening to "American Dreams" there is some home movie shot of a flat ride with the collisium in the background, I can't remember the ride name.

Here is the whole Tommy Boy thing.

Tommy Boy was set in Sandusky.

Tommy Boy was not shot at Sandusky

As far as I know there are no reffences to Cedar Point in Tommy Boy.

I can be corrected though.

Well, as some have already pointed out, much of Tommy Boy was shot in Toronto, with likely some interiors on soundstages back in LA (I assume).
And as Michael Darling already said, some second unit photography was obviously done in Sandusky, or possibly used stock footage.
The "downtown" scene was not actually Sandusky. The only scene shot in the US was El Mirage Dry Lake in California. Even all the sound stage shots were done in Toronto.

That PKI episode is one of the few Brady Bunch shows I've seen. I noticed it was before the Racer ran one side backwards.

Also, with Tommy Boy being entirely filmed in Canada, you have to wonder why they chose Sandusky for the setting out of all the other small midwestern towns they could have used.
