Has cedar point become less nice and wholesome

That's fair. But, we weren't hanging out ALL day. It's hard to get the the theaters without walking through Times Square...but that surrounding area is no picnic either way.

I tend to disagree about that. Times Square itself is the place with the creepers, crack Elmo and pick-pocketers. Depending on where you stay, it's pretty easy to not go through it at all.

That wasn't really the point though. There are not many places where you are subjected to smoke of any kind for a long duration, and no one is suggesting it should be allowed at the park.

Just stay a block west in Hells Kitchen and you have already improved your environment tenfold.

And shame on anyone who goes to Olive Garden in Times Square, or any chain there.

All you need is eyes. You can see the MAGA people actively wanting to repress voting rights, discriminate against LGBTQ folks, ban books, put women in "their place."

Feel free to show where they are "Banning Books" and letting states decide laws like the Constitution allows. No one is discriminating against LGBTARSTUV folks or whatever they want to call themselves now

I’d think a Purdue graduate as late as ‘85 would be a little more informed, or at least respectful.

You overestimate Purdue.

On the plus side, I don't have to put up with willfully ignorant folks.

How do you know someone graduated from Purdue? You don't have to ask, they'll tell you.

Sit tight fellas ;)

Heard that said about grads of a number of colleges (typically Ivy League and most often Harvard). Not sure I have heard it said of Purdue grads. Maybe in engineering?

Harvard grads can be funny. If you do not react with sufficient amazement/awe, ask to kiss their ring, etc. (just say "nice" or "cool") when they mention they went to Harvard (and they no doubt will -- or the more subtle but to me more arrogant "I went to college in Boston" line), they will repeat it again several more times as if you didn't hear them the first time. They often will get frustrated if they don't get what they view to be the proper reaction. And supposedly the "I went to college in Boston" line gets used because they think people get uncomfortable or weird if they say they went to Harvard but many times they are just looking for a different reaction. Not all Harvard grads do that and grads of other colleges sometimes do as well. Just not in the same numbers as the Harvard grads I have met/work with.

Personally, I give great respect to this older fella who went back to school at Grand Lakes University. He even once completed the Triple Lundy!

I went to Ashland University.

So take it from me, Thornton Melon, if you want to look thin, you hang out with fat people.

Bring us a pitcher of beer every seven minutes until somebody passes out. And then bring one every ten minutes.

Right, Phil, but I'd just like to say in all fairness to Mr. Melon here, it was a really big check.

I'm not a fan of smoke in general but it would have been nice when my brother was using marijuana for pain if he could have just grown some in the back yard for his own personal use instead without possible police involvement. Would probably have been simpler and cheaper than getting gummies.

It's not cheap, but it's pretty easy in Flori-duh. So many kinds of edibles available now. Still need the feds to decriminalize, then we can at least have real research about what it can and can't do.

Cedar Point will never feel as wholesome as it once did now that it's owned by a publicly traded company. Cedar Fair's primary mission is to keep it's large shareholders happy, not to maximize the individual guest experience.

The park itself has certainty become less tranquil over decades. Frontier Trail was more relaxing before Millie ran through the center of it. Dragster's construction tore up the pathway that ran along the lagoon. WWL was such a perfect ride for Frontierland before being replaced by a high intensity coaster. Countless mature trees have been lost.

I'm as big a fan and promoter of charm as anyone, and while I agree that FT lost some with the addition of MF, I don't see how the park as a whole is worse off for it. Quite the opposite, actually.

Same for WWL - I miss the park having a flume, but Maverick is a complete home run, and the trees have been filling in nicely back there.

Not to mention, the addition of the Farmhouse made that area feel complete. I wish there was some indoor seating, but the lights, fencing, pathways, planters, etc.. are all great additions to the Frontier Town area. I think it will age nicely, and feel like it’s been there since day 1, eventually.

If only these two things weren't mutually exclusive.

Pulling out the petty dead horse again. It seems like there's enough confusion on the "2024 pass valid, but not the addons" policy that they've had to have signs printed up and posted all over the restaurants. I overheard the employees explaining this several times over the last weekend.
