If you haven't seen people toke up at CP, I would argue that you haven't been there as much as other people.

Assuming that smoking pot should be viewed as a “negative behavior”.
I suggest you don’t go to California’s Great America where it’s legal. We stood under a cloud all day and nobody cared.
And there’s no need to explain to me that in Ohio recreational use of marijuana is illegal. [I think that’s about to change] Or that Cedar Point has a strict no smoking policy. I’m aware. I think it’s so odd that in some states the behavior is viewed as shocking and carries a penalty while maybe even as close as one state over its fine and everything’s cool.
Criminalization of weed is tired. My wife has used it medicinally for almost a year, and it's helped where traditional pain treatments failed. But beyond that, there's little reason to ban recreational use.

I personally haven't had interest in partaking in cannabis but my family does and I can appreciate the benefits it has for them. They prefer to use oils and concentrates though.
Would it be unreasonable for Cedar Points policy to maintain and enforce the no smoking (cigarettes, cigars, joints, etc) in that burning a substance for the effect is banned, but if someone want to have gummies or oil or whatever other form they prefer that's allowable?
I've wondered this for awhile and haven't really had a area to discuss or. For the pros or cons in this forum I think I might get some insightful answers.
Personally any smoke in general is nasty to me. Cigarette and joint smoke tends to give me a headache or make me light headed and that's really difficult for me to deal with all day long. So this is a personal preference item, but both tobacco and cannabis products have non burning options. With that in mind I've always wondered if public policy should be no smoking outside of private property (your car/home or other private property by permission of the property owner.)
Thoughts and insights please?

RCMAC,
I've been to California many times including Venice Beach where it's openly accepted with neon signs in the shop windows. While our group personally didn't have an issue with the blunt smoking in line, it's what you stated: the fact that CP has a no smoking policy in place for a reason. That and the fact that there were small children in line next to this group, this one time it just rubbed me the wrong way. I'd rather smell a blunt than cigarette smoke any day, this from a former smoker, but I think there's a time and place (including areas of the park) for everything.
Jeff, I'm a local park goer (live close to Walt) and have been a season pass holder for 40 years. I've never seen anyone openly light up a blunt in line at the park ; cigarette yes, blunt no. I agree with you about the "criminalization" aspect. It's old and will get overturned in Ohio, if anything for tax revenue where it's brought in millions of dollars in places like Colorado, Oregon, etc.
or in the food service trucks…

No problem with people partaking in some weed, but agree that smoking shouldn't be done in a queue line. I'm surprised they bothered to bring a joint when edibles are widely available these days and much easier (and enjoyable, IMO). In your shoes I would tolerate the joint smoke, but I'd also have no problem if someone with kids were to call the park police. The phone number exists for a reason. To Jeff's point, though, I've seen people lighting up both cigarettes and pot in queue lines on multiple occasions. It's nothing new.

I've absolutely seen people smoke a blunt in the queue. Magnum, circa 1999 if I had to guess, and probably in the MF line after that.

I don't have a problem with weed...but I don't want it anywhere near me because it makes me more nauseous than cigarette smoke. Treat it the same way. Create designated areas, if you must, but don't make the rest of us suffer.

Keep all smoking out of the parks. Let’s stop pretending marijuana is just fine. I should not have to smell it or breathe it in public. And yes I smell weed 10 times more than I ever have before, all around Erie, PA. That’s a shame to hear about the amusement parks in CA and how everyone there, including children, have to breathe it in all day.
Where are you that children have to breathe it all day?

Master D if I'm understanding your core point I agree.
All public smoking should be banned, it's nasty, let's not give marijuana a pass for public smoking because reasons that I honestly don't understand. I've never understood that argument, because it's_____ it should be different. If people want to have edibles, oils, etc, please go right ahead and enjoy yourself. Same with tobacco if one is so inclined enjoy your nicotine pouches etc. But aerosolizing your preferred substance around other's (I remember a conversation about people inconsiderately blasting music in similar situations and the discussion that ensued here I would equate the two if not say smoking in the same situations is more inconsiderate) by burning it shouldn't be allowed. If you'd prefer to light up a cigarette or a joint or a cigar, please find a designated smoking area or return to your vehicle, once you're content please rejoin us in the park.
Responding to Exit's point, the anti drug, especially marijuana campaigns from what I understand, were stupid arguments using fear tactics. They were wrong and likely harmful. I want to be clear I'm not making this point here about drugs bad. Smoking is my issue, Bill Engvall did a bit about airport smokers and the fish tanks they had to use to smoke (heard this years ago when I was younger and it's always stuck with me) in the airport. I'm not suggesting they make a sideshow out of the smokers like that. I think Cedar Fair has proven they could make friendly comfortable and thematic smoking areas and that'd be great for everyone.
Is that an unreasonable standard for society today?

I agree with that sentiment, and I don't think anyone was advocating otherwise. But it is worth noting, as many here have, that people toking up is not in any way a new phenomenon, so isn't indicative of the park becoming "less wholesome".
What I find most offensive is that these jackasses chose a conspicuous method of getting high versus one of the countless inconspicuous methods available damn near anywhere in Michigan and I'm sure elsewhere on the "secondhand" market. It wasn't long ago that we had to spend hours upon hours making my own edibles like some Neanderthals when heading to the park (helped with motion sickness). It also cost a lot more back then. Kids these days don't know how good they have it!

Times Square. San Francisco wharf area. The streets surrounding Disneyland. My local malls and theaters. Perhaps "all day" is an exaggeration...but the proliferation of it has ramped up in many places.

There was a time (maybe 20 years ago) where I would actually take notice of the smell of pot when I was out somewhere because it wasn't something I encountered often. Now its just a lot more common such that I don't really notice it as much. At this point, most people (particularly young people) view it as a non-issue. Not sure that genie is going back in the bottle.
If your kid is hanging out in Times Square all day, you're not a good parent.
