Hands Up Or Hands Down?

Do you ride your roller coasters with your hands up or down? If you do, do you still sometimes feel like your hands are going to hit the strusture when you go under it. (Mostly Mean Streak & Gemini)I keep my hands up when I ride coasters. And I always feel like my hands are going to hit.t gives the ride more excitment.

Yeah, when I ride Mean Streak it does seem like my hands are going to hit the stucture. I ride most of the time with hands.....UP

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point.
I ride with them up on non-looping coasters. I think it makes the drop less scary.
I almost always ride with my hands up, I start out a little hesitant on how far I extend them until I'm comfortable that they wont hit anything, adds a bit more excitement.

I'm pretty hesitant to put them up on any ride the first time I try it. Normally, though, they're up. Anything that loops: down and holding on.

when i ride mean streak i hold on for deer life.i may bounce right out.
Up all the way on all non-looping - I try to on looping ones too but those darn shoulder restraints make it uncomfortable if not impossible.

Always up! Even my first ride on Millenium Force. But if I've ridden the coaster many many many times, I may not have my hands up, but I'm not holding on either. For example, sometimes I'll ride Raptor sitting as if I'm in an airchair in my living room, totally relaxed. But hold on? Only if the ride is so rough that's it hurts less to brace myself! *Grin*

I used to be an "always hands up" guy. Now if a ride has the OSTR's and notorious for headbanging, I grab hold and prepare for impact. Besides, like others have mentioned, it is nearly impossible on some coasters. If a coaster has a lap bar only, hands up!!

I DID hit the crossbeams on Ghostrider once, just barely scraped the tips of my fingers, scary stuff. Now I hold them above my head, but not WAY up.

My hands are always UP on any non-looping coaster. I would put my hands up on a looping coaster if not for the restraints. So instead I put my hands out in front or as far up as possible.

it varies on all coasters with me,but on space shot side of power tower,i always lay my hands relaxed on the restraint, and let them go up on their own at the top, other than the first few rides where i looked up,hehe, had to grab on then

I too used to ride hands up, but now I “sit up right and hold on tight and enjoy my ride at America’s rock and roller coast”. Especially on Mean Streak.

Hands up all the way on every coaster!!!!!!!!!!!
Hands up on most coasters, at least at the start. When marathon riding, I may not bother to put my hands up after the first few laps.

Some rides (not at Cedar Point -- think large Arrow loopers, or Premier launched spaghetti bowls) I'll brace myself, though. Can't get the arms up on most of them anyway ;)

Hands up every coaster, but I have a question.

When riding Magnum, returning from the pretzel and rounding the second hill can you hit the stucture with your hands to the right side ? I have never tried but it sure does seem like you could touch the structure with your fingers if you were dumb enough to try. (ouch !!) With Millenium's test car they towed though, it had a "thing" in the back seat with small wood boards fanning out. Is that what they used to see if passengers could "touch" certain areas of the course ??? While riding Mean Streak I could touch the side walk-way rails and get a sliver or two.

:) "Did you know this goes up-side down" :)
I got a shock on Wildcat once because you can reach out and touch the rails while going around the curves. Ouch!

I ride with my hands up on any non-looping coaster, even when there are head choppers. If you ever sit in the back of Gemini and everyone has their hands up they will immediately take them down when going underneath the structure. I always laugh at that.
Hands up on everything, plain and simple.
