Hand stamp instead of using pass?

Yesterday my kids decided they were chilly so we went back to the car for sweat shirts. Since we have passes we didn't bother getting a stamp which was apparently the wrong thing to do because the employee was acting all weird about us having been there already and saying "why didn't you get your hand stamped? You should have gotten your hand stamped." It was the same employee we passed when we entered the park about 10-20 minutes earlier. What was the big deal here? Is there a reason you can't just use your pass to get back in same day? This is the first year we've had passes since 1999 so I guess things have changed. I just don't get what the big deal was.

As long as I have been going, if you want to exit and re-enter, you need to get a stamp regardless if you have a day pass or a season pass.

Season passes are only allowed to be scanned once a day to prevent pass abuse. You would be surprised how often people hand their passes to people to use or give to a friend.

I thought this was changed this year. Can't you get in more than once using the same pass?

We were surprised also when the first time exiting the park that they insisted we get a stamp even though we have the passes. We've just been getting the stamp since.

Which brings me to another question, what if we drive out of the parking lot and return later? Do we have them scan one of our other platinum passes to get the free parking same day?

I know people will try to abuse the system but since your picture comes up on the screen when they scan it I would think it would be hard to do that now. I just never remember having that issue ever come up when we had passes in the 90's.

Here at kings island they changed it this year and you can scan your pass over and over. As for parking you can only use one pass once a day but they give a receipt that will get you back in.

The rule about hand stamps has been in effect for at least the last three years at CP -- and that is exactly why they do it -- a safeguard to prevent someone else from reusing your pass. While they do have popup photos, its amazing how many folks look the same, especially in families...

As to the parking at CP, you can come and go as often as you want with your Platinum Pass and they will just scan it each time -- I do that every time I am there, since I will usually go into Sandusky for Lunch or dinner, then return...or go out in the evening to a movie or something else, and then return later to the resort...

Bottom Line, when they ask you to get your hand stamped, get your hand stamped.

At Kings Island last weekend they didn't even scan the pass for parking. I never left CP and come back without a resort pass so I wouldn't know how they do it up there.

I think anyone who enters the park should get a hand stamp if they plan on entering the park after they exit. It's simple policy. I leave the park for the 1st time less than 2 hours after they open pretty often. Often I make trips to KI or CP and only stay for a few hours because it is not out of our way and we are passing through. I don't need the stamp when I leave because I won't be coming back that day.

Your card is only good for one entry per day, and if it were good for more than that then it would be abused.

I could easily find 6 people that look like me enough to have a 6 person platinum pass.

If your looking for a scam though I would suggest that if you know someone who is going to the park/parks when you aren't going. Share your parking with them. They will appreciate the 12-15$ savings they get from flashing a piece of plastic to the attendant at the gate.

I get my hand stamped even if I'm not planning on coming back. Just in case I change my mind.

Parking is not included in this rule....I have left the park multiple times and used the same card at the toll booths.

I don't always leave the park for the day, but when I do, I get my hand stamped.

Which is stupid, because the whole point of getting your picture taken is so they can see it when they scan the pass. It's the wrong solution to something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place.

You would be surprised how many people look like other people -- I could probably have my brother and my dad BOTH use my pass the faces look so similar....

Whenever I get a hand stamp, I'm always afraid that it's going to fade away, because I wash my hands often.

I get my forearm stamped when leaving. Eliminates the hand washing thing.

Cedar Point stamps the underside of your right forearm. If your washing that, then I don't know what to tell you. Besides the fact that my stamp has survived Soak City.
