Halloweekends: September 23/24

Haven't posted in awhile, but thought I'd share my Halloweekends experience.

Left Detroit Friday at 4:00 and arrived around 7:00 (I rear-ended someone in front of Margaritaville on U.S. 6, so that took some time to get straightened out). Arrived at Breakers and got our room. Headed into the park around 7:30. I was very impressed with the decor...the fog and decorations really set a good mood. Attractions we did Friday:

Pharoe's Secret(10 minute wait) - I wasn't expecting to get scared, so I wasn't dissapointed when I didn't. Still fun nonetheless.

CarnEVIL- I was surprised by this. Lots of fog and a good amount of actors. The actor with the cymbols got me good, as he came out of nowhere and crashed them right in my ear. Walked through this a few times.

Lair of the Vampire (Walk-in)- the best of the indoor haunts. The intensity level of the actors was much better than in Pharoe's, and that spinning tunnel was an excellent effect.

Werewolf Canyon (1 hour wait)- I'm not going to lie....this sucked big time. Ironic, since they market it as the "must-see" haunt. To sum it all up: potted trees, the most un-enthusiastic actors I have ever seen, and lots of fog. And I'm still trying to figure out the point of the "barn". VERY dissapointed with this attraction.

Fright Zone- TOO MUCH FOG. While most like this, there was so much that I was running into people and couldn't see any of the monsters. This was a great time, and that actor with the trashcan with the siren was awesome.

Took a quick ride on maXair and Millennium Force (only a 10 minute wait...yesssss)

Didn't go into the park for long on Saturday. Rode Millennium again with our 1/2 hour early entry, Magnum, Gemini, Mean Streak, and had our fortunes told by the gypsies at Blue Streak. Played a quick game of mini golf (which I dominated) and then headed home. Overall, a great trip, even though hardly any rides were rode.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Sounds like you had a great time I can't wait to go. I'm going on a Friday this year which I haven't done in about 3 years so I am excited about the short waits. Did they still have the land of the lost rides?

Yes, the land of the lost rides was still there.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

I haven't gone this year yet, but last year I also was extremely dissapointed with Werewolf Canyon. I also thought that there were just so many people crowding into the flume you could see exactly what was going to pop out. The potted trees were also a let down.

Let me throw in a quick plug for Midway Market. I don't know what the weekend price is, but on Friday nights it's a $7.95 pizza buffet. I was expecting cheese and pepperoni just a notch above frozen pizza. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised to find really good pizza in a variety of selections (standard toppings, but also white pizza with grilled chicken, spaghetti and meatball, and more). This was on top of the normal Midway Market dessert selections, a salad bar and fresh fruit.

I'm not sure what the new Creepy, Kooky, Castle Café has for $10.95, but the Midway Market is definitely a great deal.

My friends had dinner at the Creepy Kooky Castle Cafe, and they said it was horrible. They had to wait 20 minutes for pizza to be put on the buffet. According to them the pizza was pretty bad as well. In addition they had to keep flagging down the waiter to get refills, and were given "looks" by the staff when they asked for the refills. Did anyone else experience this? Maybe it was the time they went, but it wasn't a very nice experience for some first timers to CP and Halloweekends. (It sounded a lot like my experience with Midway Market a couple of years ago).

I took a quick look at Werewolf Canyon during the day and it doesn't look like it has much trees in it. But that was from a bench by that observation deck. Is it really that bad?

I thought that the fright Zone was put together very nice on Saturday because of the fact that there was no wind and the fog worked out perfectly
