Halloweekends: How to fix the poor guest experience.

I understand that CP has halloweekends only Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays because alot of the workers are in school. While keeping that in mind, I still think it would be possible to have Cedar Point open an extra day (either monday or thursday). Let's say Cedar Point opened on Thursdays. They could have select main attractions going (the way they do Friday nights), and leave the children's areas closed (kids aren't going to be out late if they have school the next day). I'm guessing that not all of the workers return to school for the week, and that there are many who live in the area and work at Cedar point who would be more than willing to work an extra 8 hour day. The singing style shows (which I love) would have to be cut because those jobs need particular people. Other simple activities (Remember the Poe Readings, anyone?) could be added. If there are 7 haunted houses, have 4 open one week and 4 open the next. This would take into account half of the CP workers leaving to go to school, and allow the remaining 50 percent (just a guesstimate) to run the remaining haunted houses and select rides. This also allows the season pass holder to visit on a day that is less busy, allowing more freedom for the non-season pass holder on the weekends. This wouldn't be enforced in any way, and the Thursdays would still be open to anyone. But people who live close enough could go, experience the rides and a few haunted houses, and may cause less congestion on the weekends. I am a season pass holder, and although I drive 90 minutes to get to Cedar Point, I would like to be able to get into more than one haunted house without waiting an hour in line. I would be more than happy to visit on a less than full capacity schedule, if it meant the crowds were much smaller. Even non-season pass holders would take advantage of this, due to smaller crowds. It could be a win-win for everyone.

Children, teens, and most college students all have school the next day, while most adults have work the next day as well. The park probably wouldn't make any money by opening it one extra day in the middle of the week.

I doubt they make much money on most Friday evenings, frankly.

^ Well, you would be surprised about that one.

Stopped reading there, because now you're making it about my reading comprehension instead of any real point. You kinda suck at this. Your post had no ideas beyond "advertise a different weekend," which does not represent any effective way to "balance attendance" in light of good weather and when people have off of work and/or school.

False. Not going to argue with you here, Jeff. Anyone can read my posts (plural) in this thread and see that I spoke of various ways to balance attendance.

You just admitted to not reading my posts, and then you're commenting why? You say I suck at making points, and I say you suck at posting positive & agreeable thoughts. I guess we all have various strengths and weaknesses, right? ;)

I'd like to comment on staffing. One of the reasons that the park is not run as efficiently during October and late September is because of all the kids going back to college. This summer I worked on Dragster, and had the best time of my life. I am not bashing Cedar Point by any means when I say this, but it is simply not worth driving 3 hours every weekend just to work at an amusement park.If we were appreciated more and paid more, then it might be worth it. Because of all of us college students that end our contracts early, they employ "ride prides" which are college kids from organizations such as greek life and sports teams to run the rides. This leads to a VERY VERY slow interval on every ride which makes the intervals on every ride a-lot slower.

The poor guest experience that has resulted in the incredibly poor attendance during Halloweekends. Duh.
