There isn't a time in the year that I like better at Cedar Point than Halloweekends. Last year I made it a point to go every Friday, and hope to do the same again this year.
I'll skip the ride descriptions because that's been covered enough. I will say that Raptor, almost a walk-on at various times, is still one of the most amazing coasters on the planet. It always seems like a new discovery for me, because I don't ride much during the bulk of the season because of the insane lines.
It wasn't terribly crowded, but there was a decent size crowd. One of the things I like best about the park is that they always operate full force. Raptor and others might have had short lines, but for the most part they ran all of the trains. The Force had to pull off blue after the rollbacks dragged all the way up the lift, and Iron Dragon only had two on, but the waits were very short. Power Towers was a walk-on, but they had all four towers operating.
Speaking of Iron Dragon, I rode it for the first time in years at night, and was surprised. The trees create a nice envelope for the ride and make it appear to be faster. Still a fun little ride for a certain segment of the public.
There were a lot more fog machines around the park this year, and far more props. Every year this event gets bigger and bigger. The trail is outstanding. They appeared to be running several of the same shows, but that was where all of the action was.
I didn't do the haunted houses, because they really aren't that interesting to me, but overall the park has reached another level for atmosphere. I look forward to the next few weeks!
