Halloweekends

I know it is a little too early to be asking this but i could not find the information anywhere. I am planning to go up during this time for our 2 year anniversary. I know they change breakers into the haunted house. They have the park all haunted up and the parades. Do they do anything else to the park, like change boneville? I have looked thru the pictures on here of the halloweekends and i dont see that much of a difference except all the halloween stuff. I have never been there for one of these weekends and am looking forward to it. I just wanted to see what i was in for. Thanks

Breakers is still Breakers. A number of haunted attractions are opened throughout the park. Friday nights offer a subset of rides.

And this year there's a new scare zone... and it'll be in a sweet place.

They do something very special every Saturday during Halloweekends, theypack in the crowds tighter than any other time I’ve gone to the park. TheSaturday crowds are huge and the waits in line are horrendous, I guessfrightening would be a more appropriate term.

Friday: Limited hours, limited rides, no crowds, all the haunts including the outdoor ones open (outdoor are by far the best ones)

Saturday: 12-12, Crowd is packed but the only day where everything is open

Sunday: Limited hours (close at 8) no crowds, only the indoor haunts are open, except Columbus Day Sunday where it stays open until 10.

Don't worry about what the new zone will be. It'll be a a very cool surprise. Trust us. For once try not to bug people on what the new thing is, it'll be a lot better if you wait.

If a new attraction is hinted at, why wouldn't a fan ask questions about it? I think it's only natural. It comes off as a bit smug to tell someone not to worry about it, given you already know.

I'm sure if you were on the other end, you'd want to know as well! :)

I thought there were rooms in Breakers that were themed to Halloween that you could reserve during Halloweekends... I remember seeing it in the Getaway Guide...

Does anybody have any information at all about the NEW attraction this year?

It wasn't there last year.

Will CarnEvil be there this year, or will it be moved?

The Crystal Method is the only way to find The Winner!

If I knew something new was coming in I wouldn't be asking what, it's not like it's a life threatening matter if I know or not.

From my trip report, what I feel will happen with CarEvil. But I do not work at the park and have no inside info so I really don't know.

I know during the off season there was a lot of speculation on how they were going to have CarnEvil with all the entrances, but after looking at it in person I really don't see what the problem would be. They could easily close off the entrances that lead onto the midway the similar to the way they hid it before, with the cameo netting and temp fences, and leave plenty of ways in and out of the area without having to go through CarnEvil. I would probably move the entrance back behind Joe Cool Cafe, but I expect them to keep the Kreepy Kooky Cafe this year so not much point.

Ok, I'll bite on this one, and hopefully not get flamed in the process.

Earlier posts in this and other threads here on PB over the winter rumored that the newest outdoor walk-through might involve the "island."

If that is true, I agree--it would be an intriguing place for such an attraction. But, it would also most certainly involve closing at that time of year what little is left of my beloved Western Cruise (now Paddlewheel Excursions). If that were the case, it would be a great disappointment to me, as that is one of the few rides that the whole family can ride together at once, and would be a small (but not insignificant) blow, IMO, to this year's emphasis on "family." (It's also a way to get some of the fog of the Fright Zone on Saturday nights, with the kids.)

I'm sure Jeff and others wisely won't speculate, but I just recall the island has been mentioned here already. (Also IMO, an attraction on the island would seem to me to be "awfully close" to the Fright Zone.)

BTW, I noticed on opening day that there is something that looks like a breakwall on the edge of the island, directly across from the Paddlewheel dock. I don't know if that is new this year or not, but if so, might provide a place to attach a footbridge. Perhaps it's been there all along, and I simply haven't noticed it.

Last edited by Western Cruiser,

Intriguing idea. What if Paddlewheel Excursion itself were turned into a Halloween-themed ride? Paddlewheel Exorcisms, anyone?

And as far as using the island were concerned, what if they could build a dock on the island side of the lagoon, where passengers could disembark (and re-embark) for a spooky haunt under MF? That would be the epitome of cool.

^ After reading the posts on this new scare zone, I immediately thought of the same thing. I think a boat ride/island tour would be a great attraction, ala Turistas.

Or Tom Sawyer Island with an actual sawyer...of people's heads!!!! Bwah-hah-hah-hah-hah. (Damn, an evil laugh just doesn't as good in print.)

So... if you're not going to tell us what or where the new haunted walkthrough is, can you at least give us a hint at when we'll find out?

To paraphrase the great Dr. Evil.... Throw us a frickin' bone!

I can tell you this - we're in the middle of finalizing details for what we hope will be our best HalloWeekends yet.

You'll likely find out all the details sometime mid-to-late summer.

I've been excited for this year's Halloweekends since December, when the Screamsters were told what new things were being planned. This year is really going to be amazing!
