Well I'm pretty sure I've never been to Halloweekends two weeks in a row, but due to a ignition failure on my Buick last Sunday, I was "forced" to return to the point to pick up my car from Kasper Buick (and accordingly, separate with $500 dollars of my money).
Friday was a great night. Comfortable temperatures, and some ERT sweetness as I made first train on MF (only to wait for water dummy dumping for the other two trains). Still, the transfer gate was open and I was toe-to-toe with SRB for at least 5 runs. Then, my wife showed up and wanted to ride with me, which pretty much destroyed any chance at setting a personal record. No matter, because the park got pretty crowded, for a Friday, later in the evening.
Just before 6PM we headed over to Dragster and got three rides in on that. Naturally, Single Rider Chris was there, and I had engaged him in a 5PM footrace from the Magnum entrance. That dude is quick, but I can still take him. Little did I know he was just running to TTD, which was not to open for another hour. Seems like a waste, but he likes to sit there and wait that hour in the comfort of the fitment seat at the entrance to the ride. Gotta wait in comfort, I guess.
From there we got in a few rides on Skyhawk with no line, and some Wicked Twister, and Raptor. All walk-ons for the most part. Once 8PM rolled around we hit the haunted stuff, which is getting pretty predictable to me now that I've been through all of it at least 3x this year alone. Still, it was my wife's first time, and fun to watch her reactions.
The original weekend forecast was for a nice Friday, few showers Sat (30% chance) and nice Sunday. What a lie that turned out to be. Saturday was a disaster with rain at first, then rain/wind at night. Waiting in line at Happy Jacks at 10PM was fricken insane wind (30-50mph?) and sideways pelting rain coming off the lake. Just craziness. We were prepared though, with proper rain gear and multiple layers, and alcohol, so we stayed warm all night. :)
Sunday was supposed to rain all day but turned out to be just very windy most of the time. The following rides were all closed for WIND: TTD, MF, Gemini!, Magnum!, Raptor!, Power Tower. I could never imagine so many rides closed for wind. Maverick was open and had no lines at all until after 1PM. Skyhawk was walk-on all day. BS and CCMR were also running, as was WT. That's about it. The park was empty, but due to so few rides being open, you still had a decent wait for Maverick by late afternoon. For reference, the parking lot was only filled to Row 23. Just crazy dead. Too bad the wind never died down.
Nice report. I checked out the park cams a few times this weekend and the weather looked terrible. Today it looked like there wasn't anyone there. Hopefully the weather will be better for the rest of the season. I just hate I wont be making a HallowWeekends trip this year.
