The last two years that I have went to Cedar Point in October the crowds have been worse than anytime in the summer.. is there anydays that are better to go on or has the event just become to popular?
Saturday's can get very crowded and most of all the lines move slower due to staffing not being 100% that late in the season.
Sundays are not that bad.
Avoid the weekend of the boat show though.

Unfortunately some of us don't have the luxury to go on Friday or Sunday, in which case we're stuck with insane lines. Is any weekend better than others? Even though I ask, I'm pretty sure I'll be going on the 21st regardless.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I'm guessing that the first weekend or two of Halloweekends aren't as bad as it gets as closing day/Halloween get closer. I'm just using logic here, not fact. Can anyone one back this up?

I'm sure it also greatly depends on weather. If one weekend's weather is very poor, you can bet that a weekend down the road will be even more crowded. People always want to cram one more trip to CP in.

Cold temperatures sure don't scare away people. Rain always does though.

The cold tempatures are fun sometimes.. it nearly snowed one year at Six Flags Great America in late October. Fun stuff being froze to death with the wind chill of the coasters blowing by. :)
Last train of the season on Millennium Force in 2002 there were some nice flurries... :)

Weather definately factors into the crowds, especially the Saturday ones. The only way really to judge if a Saturday is going to be really crowded is by the weather. I can tell you that in the last two years I remember Saturday #3 and Saturday #4 being the most crowded. It doesn't mean it'll be the same this year though.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Pretty much, if it's not raining it'll be crowded on a Saturday. If it's sunny, and warm, expect even more of a crowd.

Magic words to remember. Saturday of Columbus day weekend. Watch Out!

I went on the Saturday of closing weekend last year and I was faced with the largest crowds I've ever saw at park. I still had a great time though. I think I could go to CP not ride a single ride and still get enjoyment out of my trip. It's just that fun!

Past two years I've on on the second last Saturdays of the seasons. I never had any problems riding. Last year the weather was decent, the year before held rain later in the day. I plan on going closing day this year.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
How is Halloweekends? I'm in Florida, so I go to Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Nights and Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream every year. This summer while at CP, I saw ads for Halloweekends, but they all had pictures of Snoopy and other characters in costumes.... is it more of a kids event?

VERY true! I have never felt unsafe at Cedar Point untill this night. So many people back in fronteer, could not move-- strollers, wagons, smoke, and people getting angry. It was a nice night and the park was packed. Not enough staff anywhere. Not enough food stands were open. Honesly it was not a good situation.
other then that.. love em.. Friday nights are awesome and other then columbus day and cool rainy days when the park isnt packed its a lot of fun!

The crowds are more dependent on the weather than the closeness to Halloween. If Saturday gets up in the mid 60's, you can expect an over crowded day. If Saturday is on the chilly side and looks like rain, the park won't necessarily be crowded, but you may see a jump at night time when the haunted stuff opens.
I don't remember closing weekend being particularly busy. It wasn't dead, but it certainly wasn't the busiest that I've ever seen the park.
We go for whole weekends in the fall though. So we have Friday, Saturday and a good chunk of Sunday to do what we want. Halloweekends are a blast and the best time to get in some good night rides. Heck, Friday is nothing but night rides, and pulling into the park as the sun is going down and knowing you still have 6 hours of riding left is an awesome feeling.
Goodbye MrScott

Halloweekends isn't a kids event, but its much more family friendly than HHN or HOS. There are some haunted houses and fright zones, but they are nowhere near as scary as HHN or HOS. It's still a very good time nonetheless, and Friday nights are the best time to go (10 minutes waits for Millennium Force :) ).
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
I usually go on Friday nights, yes not all of the rides arent open but the ones that are dont have a line at all. And all of the walkthroughs and haunted houses arent very crowded either.
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
