I was at Cedar Point last week and had a great time. I love the park - every ride was awesome, the staff was great, the park was clean, and I had an excellent time.
There is one thing, however, that I saw that is bothering me to no end. Cedar Point has some wildlife in the park (i.e. geese by the CCMR, fish below the Mantis line, etc.). Well, on several occasions last week I caught some rude park guests being cruel to these animals. For example, several people were torturing the geese by chasing them, throwing things at them, spitting on them, etc. When my boyfriend and I ran closer to try to "rescue" the animals, the culprits ran away. I looked down to see some scared geese - all covered with spit. Needless to say - I was disgusted (as my eyes filled with tears). There were no park employees in sight except for the caricature artist, who really didn't seem affected by the incident. Other than that, no one was around to stop this, and if we didn't come by who knows what would've happened to these helpless creatures.
While waiting in line for the Mantis we saw some kids pretending to feed the fish below, but they were actually throwing objects into water, trying to get them into the open mouths of the fish. One kid almost succeeded in getting a quarter down the fish's mouth and the other kids "high-fived" him. I yelled at him to stop it, and he finally did, but again, who knows what else happens when people don't speak up or witness these events.
I know that Cedar Point cannot be responsible for all of the stupid things that their guests do, and it is a shame that people have to act this way. However, since Cedar Point does have animals on its property, I thing that it does have an obligation to make sure that they are not harmed or treated poorly. If this means making sure that there is staff walking around the areas where there are animals, then that's what should happen. Otherwise, in my opinion, the animals should be removed from the park.
Who would be the best person/people at Cedar Point to address this with? I am an animal lover who actually had part of a great day at Cedar Point ruined last week when I saw this. It's a shame that I even have to type this, but I need to bring this to people's attention.
Thanks in advance...
I would contact to Park Operations (Petting Zoo) or Public Relations. As a former CP employee, I know that I always stopped any mistreatment when I saw it happen, but unfortunately you're talking 1 employee per 100+ guests on a slow day, and there are things we just don't see. I hate to see people abuse any animals like that, and I know that the majority of employees will work to stop such occurences, even to the point of summoning security. I hope that something can be done!

Talk about cruelty at the park. The family and i hit the employee cafeteria almost every visit. Outside the entrance to the cafeteria, their are a couple trees surrounded by concrete and brick where you could sit. 2 weeks ago a mother duck made her nest inside of the area on the mulch around the trees, she could be seen sitting on her eggs. Yesterday we went to get some eats, and here the duck was gone. All that remains is her nest with 5 eggs. Here we come to find out that some morons...I emphasize the word MORONS..chased the mother duck and messed with her eggs. Now she has left the nest.....all that remains are 5 abandoned eggs. Talk about cruelty to animals. Some people **** their brains out. They have no clue what life is about.
I know anyone at the petfarm would do their best to prevent animal abuse. We once had a group of kids harrassing one of our goats, and we called security, and 6 guards came down to have a chat with them.

On Opening Day I had noticed that a bird (non seagull) had decided to build its nest AWFUL close to the platform stairs at Maggie. Hooper and I looked at each other and thought "THAT was NOT a good location"
The next week the nest was gone. Wonder if some idiot knocked it out of the tree. I ADORE animals (am Mom to 3 dogs, 3 guinea pigs, 7 ferrets and 3 horses) and I do NOT tolerate anyone abusing ANY animals. I have even gone out of my way to say something to the idiots teasing the carp by Mantis. Better not let me catch them doing anything to ANY animal...at CP or any where!!

Dont EVEN say the word "veal" around me!
As a follow up, I had sent a detailed message to CP several weeks ago regarding the incident of cruelty to the park animals by guests. Per CrystalKat's suggestion, I also spoke to someone in park operations about this.
The outcome...well, absolutely no response to my e-mail submission, despite the fact that I had requested that someone reply to assure me that they had received it and that it got routed appropriately. And, "Ted" in park operations didn't seem overly concerned about it. He said that he would mention it to a supervisor, and that's about it.
Well, I tried. If any CP employees know who else internally you could mention this to, I would greatly appreciate it!
Well personally, I think "Ted" should be replaced. This sickens me, and probably any good willed human to hear about this. To the point where it affects my opinions on Cedar Point. I am going to be there for my first time next month. And if I see anything to the point where it looks purposeful cruelty to any animal. I will walk up there and beat their *****. This is a sign of kids who don't have parents that disapline them ANY. If I have to get kicked out of the park to stop losers like that I accept that responsibility. I will call Cedar Point about this too.
One question... why are there fish in the lagoon??? What is there purpose? To be chopped up by the fairy boat or what?
To help CP make money on fish food. :)

"To be chopped up by the fairy boat or what?"
Hmmm... Does the "fairy" boat use pixie dust for fuel?
Find your happy thought, Pete. :)

Futuristic bow-wow... do the dog catcher!
If I remember, the line at Iron Dragon now is kept away from the wrought iron rail along the water, probably so the morons who used to spit in the water at the fish can't get close enough. It's a step in the right direction (sorry, pun).
They get a lot of quarters from those fish food machines, trust me!! I had to haul those quarters back to the pet farm, and then all the way to cash control, around 4-5 times a week.
