Greying/blacking out on cp rides?

Just wondering if anyone has had expierence here of graying out on the rides at cedar point. My first trip to cedar point will be this summer.. I've been on lots of rides at lots of parks and never had an issue greying out until last summer on Titan at six flags over Texas during the helix section. I know that the ride is known for causing some greying to riders.. It makes me a little more cautious on new rides though. Is there anything I should be concerned about at cedar point or any other rides you have expierenced this on?

I have been on Goliath at SFMM which is almost exactly like Titan, so I understand what you mean when it comes to graying out there. The only ride that I grey out on is Millennium Force on the first turn. However this is no where near as intense as Titan's helix. I think you should be fine.

I have to ask. I know what blacking out is, can someone explain greying out?

You get it when on really high/sustained positive gs.. It's like a pre-blackout thing, where you are still fully aware of what's going on but you begin getting tunnel vision and fuzziness to severe enough vision loss that everything gets dim and grey. Not a fun feeling! It isn't painful or anything but you feel like you have to "fight off" blacking out if that makes sense.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense. I have experienced that myself. Not necessarily at CP or on an amusement park ride, but I have had that experience.

Thanks,
Dave

It happens to me just about every time i ride Millennium Force going around the first turn. There are things you can do to help prevent it, say hydrated and tense up on your leg
and stomach muscles.

When you say first turn is that the overbanked turn? Sorry! Having not been on it yet its kind of hard to envision. I think part of my problem was not drinking enough before on Titan. Any advice on when to ride? I've heard early mornings don't give as good of rides, but I would think being cool and well rested would best avoid a grey out.

After you go down the first hill you go up and bank right, its at that point you may have a problem. Alot of it has to do with body type. Short stocky people handle G's best. I would try and ride gatekeeper, MF, maverick and top trill first. There lines get long in the afternoon.

This topic has come up a hundred times. I always grey out from the first overbanked turn to the end of the first tunnel on Millennium.

Has anyone ever blacked out on the ride?

I've never had a problem of blacking out or even greying out on any coaster. But like novak72 said, it all comes down to body type. If you are smaller and skinner, chances are you'll experience it, but if you're stockier and bigger, then probably not. The best thing to do would be to squeeze your legs and stomach as hard as you can, and this should help avoid causing you to greyout. The bottom of the big hill on Millennium has high gs in addition to the turn that follows it, so to be safe you should squeeze your legs and stomach starting toward the bottom of the 1st drop and through the turn. I've also known some people to greyout on Raptor's helix so if ride that, you might want to do the same thing.

I have blacked out twice while riding. Usually it is after riding several times in a row with little or no wait. Where I sit also plays a part. The area near the back where the ride operator stands (it's near a grey electrical box on the wall) is where I have the most problems. Riding closer to the front or in the last couple rows helps. I have also had rides where I grey out and a ton of rides where neither happened.

I've had problems with the helix on Raptor. Enough so that I've stopped riding it.

Millennium Force, coming down the first overbanked turn. Gets me every time. Strangely, I've also greyed out on Corkscrew going into the loop a few times.

It sometimes happens (gray out) on the beginning on TTD, with the added effect like what Ashton Kutcher experiences on Butterfly Effect when he time shifts. Seriously.

Never blacked out, but start to grey out after ride 5 of the 15-16 rides during the hour lap at Boo-Buzz.

Couse almost threw up after the last run, but held it together for Iron Dragon to puke after that one. Fun to see people think I couldn't handle ID.

If I'm not 100% (tired, end of a long day at CP, whatever) I'll gray out and see some spots after the first drop on MF. That's it for me.
