Great Bear Lodge.

It looks like fun, but for that price. I also saw that it is a two night minimum. Ouch!! on the pocketbook.
What is the price? Anyone know????
a two night min stay....that's crazy, that would be close to $450-$500 dollars just to stay there for a weekend.i could and would rather stay at hotel breakers.not only is hotel breakers right inside the park, the prices aren't that bad...I belive I pay somewhere in the range of $125-150.plus you don't have to worry about traffic at the end of a great day at cedar point.
It looks like a cool place to stay, but I'd rather stay at Lighthouse Point, or Sandcastle.

We bought a lifetime supply of pudding? How wasted were we last night?!
*Dude, Where's my car?*
I wouldn't stay there because of architectural ethics. Does anyone here believe ANY of that is real wood? It's not....all fiberglass or PVC reinforced urethane foam. Sure it looks real but the feel and smell isn't right. Besides, I live 10 minutes from there, why would I stay in a hotel in Sandusky anyway?

Yeah I would definitely have to recommend the Cedar Point resorts over Great Bear Lodge any day.... ;)

As far as I'm concerned no water park is a water park if it isn't outside! No sunshine??

CedarPoints#1fan-Why do you think CP built Lighthouse Point?? They built it to compete for people w/the Great Bear Lodge! So no I don't think the new hotel will cut that far into CP's hotel business!

MagnumFan- If The Great Bear Lodge is open during the winter!!!!! Who would care about the sun!

The thing I don't get about the Great Bear Lodge is that it is built in a parking lot. Just picture it...sitting in the sunroom looking out at the back of Steak and Shake.
Those indoor water slides go outside the building also. So you could say their indoor/outdoor slides. Everytime I drive by I see part of the slide outside the building then it goes back in. And no I don't think they are clear when they are outside, so you can see where you are. Very pricy.

I have a long awaited vacation planned at this place Mar 10,11. My Father set it up. Going to be first public to stay there. I will be going with wife and two daughters. My family makes fun of me because they know I will be sneaking off to CP to pay a small visit in the off season. (I live in Michigan) The "lodge" looks cool enough, I don't think it will take anything from CP. It will just make it another neat place to stay in the Sandusky area while at CP. I'll let you know.

:) "Did you know this goes up-side down" :)

Steak and Shake.....traffic....shopping center.....what's not ugly here????
UPDATE: I just returned from a stay at Great Bear Lodge. The Waterpark only has 4 tube slides. Two of which are very small (kiddy style) but quite fast. The other two start inside then go outside and then land back inside the building. Very short but fast. The rest is a bunch of pools and a waterplayground. The hotel is nice, but $150.00 + hotels usually are. I don't this will take anything from SC or CP resorts.

The waterpark closes at 10pm, which was dissapointing. There is nothing else to do there, but go to Steak n Shake.

It was still a very fun time. I was able to sneak away to see Cedar Point from the bay.

If you would like to stay at Great Bear Lodge, good luck. Talking to hotel staff the place is already booked for the entire year.

plz excuse spelling, spell check not working this time.

They have been running commercials' here in Michigan. It is kind of a lame commercial. They have a helicopter inside the waterpark part of the hotel, the pilot gets splashed. Also they are advertising 25% off for there grand opening. I wonder why they are advertising in the Detroit market?

Because that's one of the places from which they are trying to draw people. They are targeting cities within 120 miles of Sandusky - which includes Detroit.

The hotel is beautiful..Ill give it that..when we saw the hotel..I looked at my husband and said " That hotel looks like one of them in the Dell's and the water themeing is what most parks in the Dell's are like. Then later that week we heard on the news that the hotel is a Wisconsin based company..so it made sense. As much as I love the Dell's and all..Im really hoping that this doesnt become a trend out here..but something tells me this isnt the last of these types of hotels that we are going to see. The hotel is beautiful inside and out (love the log cabin rustic look)..but like most of you stated..sitting on the beautiful balcony over looking Red Lobster..and Steak and Shake is not really romantic. Staying at the hotel once for an anniversary is fine..the rooms are beautiful and the hotel itself has so much charm, but to pay that price for a few nights to go to Cedar Point..is out of the question. (but to stay at a hotel like that for romance with a bunch of ankle bitters running around kind of ruins the atmosphere for romance) But I still bet tht hotel gets booked up in the summer.
You can't forget about the stink from the quary. Imagine sitting on a balcony overlooking the Sandusky Mall or Meijer's, with the stinky mixture of Steak & Shake and the quary. No thank you.

Yes, I would much rather be sitting on a balcony looking at Magnum or Lake Erie.

You got to give Great Bear credit.

They know what they are doing.

Their General Manager was the GM at Funtime/Six Flag's owned Wyandot Lake park in Columbus. He knows the market well.

Plus, the main man in charge of Great Bear's indoor water park and pool system, was formerly the Area Manager of Cedar Point's Soak City and Challenge Park.
how much dose it cost to get into the water park
