I was reading in today's Sandusky Register that the Great Bear Lodge is set to open on March 15. It will be a year-round resort on U.S. Route 250 just south of Sandusky. It has the only indoor waterpark in the state of Ohio. It includes waterslides, pools, etc. I am just curious to know if any of you are planning on staying there in conjunction with your trips to Cedar Point instead of staying at Cedar Point's resorts. What do you think of this unique new resort?
I saw it when I was in Sandusky for the get together-it is amazing looking! Beautiful!!
It also looks pricey. I doubt I would plan on staying there basically because when we go to CP we just want a clean (and resonable) place to sleep. We dont need all the bells and whistles
(or wood or porches for that matter-which you will understand when you see this place)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
It seems to me that why would you want to pay extra for the fancy wood porches and all just to sit out and gaze at an ugly highway strip full of chain stores and fast food restaurants? I agree that the place is quite a site, it just has one of the most uninteresting locations imaginable. I'd rather stay in a motel 6 across the street and look at the Lodge instead of the other way around!
Nope - I'm a Breaker-holic. I might consider Lighthouse Point or Sandcastle at some point, but I'd always stay onsite. I'm spoiled by the proximity of the place and the ability to get back to your room for whatever/whenever throughout the day.

It does look cool. It reminds me of the Wilderness Lodge at Disney World.
I'll try it for a special CP trip like Costermania, or closing weekend or something of that sort..other trips though I agree with JO...a place to do the three S's..Use your imagination..:)

Indoor water parks???Why go and look at fast food and water slides and shops when you can do that at the Point?
****I reply because I do, and therefore there is to be no assumption made that I got my first job at CP because of Jenn this summer*******
I worked at CP this past season, and I saw the place being built. Are you saying that they enclosed the entire water play area?

Here are all the pictures you could ever want of the place along with the sky high prices:
http://www.greatbearlodge.com By the way, USA Today named the Great Wolf Lodge, another hotel in Wisconsin by the same company, one of the 10 best places to warm up in the *world*. Sounds pretty impressive.

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I am staying there during the last weekend of April. It has a indoor water park an some other cool things. My family is going with another family so it turned out to be not that much money.

I suppose if I took my entire family (kids included) this would be a great place to stay, but I can't imagine paying that much for a room when it's just me and my wife. Neither of us are all that big on waterparks anyway.

it looks like a fun place to stay, but i would NEVER spend that kind of money just becouse they have water slides and a arcade.
