I'vew been to Six Flag's Great America (SFGAm) a few times over the years and like it as much as CP. In fact there are lots of parks I like as much as CP or (now don't freak out kiddies) more! The more parks you visit, the more you realize they all have their pros and cons.
As for the "Coaster Capital of the World", it's all of the Six Flag parks, or at least that was the advertisement I saw on TV last night. They talked about Six Flags being the Roller Coater Capital of the World, not just SFGAm.
It's really nothing to get your panties all in a bunch over. :)

OH, I didn't mean Flashback was going to become a parking lot, I meant ALL of SFMM.
It's on the list of parks that SF has for sale. :)
We went to SFMM this summer, and I can assure you that flashback is just sitting there so that they can claim the record. It is overgrown with weeds and stuff, and there is no way that ride will ever be running again (at least not at SFMM). They also have a few other rides like that (orient express, demon drop type ride, etc.). Speaking of SFMM, I always wondered why CP claimed the first coaster over 400 feet when Superman at SFMM was 405. It only goes 2/3 of the way up the tower. That ride is so boring, you could sleep through it. However, I think that CP should put in a floorless. Those are awesome. Ok, enough of my opinion now.
Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless

SFMM is keeping up Flashback just so they can say they have 17 coasters. That's just opinion though.
And all this time I thought it was there because the company doesn't have the money to taer it down. (opps wrong site!) ;)

Like I said before, supposidly it's only still there, at this point, because the park doesn't see the point in taking it down until they have something else to put there.

I have a CP keychain that says "Coaster Capital of the World." It has a spinny globe in the center.
Dilemma solved.
Hate to say it, but this is the real coaster capitol of the world. http://rcdb.com/pd1425.htm. I wonder how many Acers can claim that credit? ;)
Well if Great America says they are the coaster capital of the world then we probably should believe them. I better get out my Shockwave shirt, fannypack, glasses with string, coupons, sunscreen, discount tickets, and 1980's camera........and skip my way toward the park.
