Hey Carolyn! Why are they claiming to be RC capital? I was watching a coaster special on the Discivery Channel last week and they had quiz questions and one asked what is the largest number of coasters at one park? The answer was 17. I always thought that CP had the most and they have 16 or am I missing something? I'm confused, does Great American have more than CP?
Except, that supposidly, it's said that Flashback is now closed for good, just that it will remain standing until the park has another use for the land.

SFMM is keeping up Flashback just so they can say they have 17 coasters. That's just opinion though.

The power was cut to Flashback, and there's no point in trying anymore anyway. :)
It's gonna' be a parking lot one of these days.

Look at it this way... Six Flags can claim whatever they want. AOL claimed to be the #1 Internet provider...... Then people woke up. Enough siad.

I rule. That's factual though.
Actually AOL had a corner on the market when dialup was the best anyone could do. Unfortunately, High speed internet now just costs about the same as dialup and is tons better. Thats at least part of why AOL has such crummy subscriber numbers nowadays.

What about glasses straps?
Dont forget the Skyhawk season pass lanyard hung around our necks.:)

I'm sitting here on a beautiful, peaceful Sunday morning reading posts on Pointbuzz when I find out from Carolyn that Great America claims to be the Coaster Capitol/al of the world. I immediately wake the whole family to break the news to them gently, I mean as a good husband and father they should hear it from me first. (weeping & wailing in the background) Then I find out that bholcomb is not a "true CP fan", it's just too much for me to take!!
A cheap tattoo ain't good and a good tattoo ain't cheap.
What a silly claim. Everyone knows Great Adventure has a better coaster collection. *** Edited 8/20/2006 4:21:59 PM UTC by Front Seat Rider***
I really dont care. If they want to call themselfs the roller coaster capital of the world. I really dont think it matters if you have the most coasters, The only thing that I care about is the quality of the coasters and the thrill factor. I believe that cedar point holds the worlds best steel coaster in their park along with 2nd and 3rd. Can six flags say that. Exactly thats what I thought.

That would be one weird location for a parking lot. Right past the water park, inside the gates. How about a helicopter pad?? Just messing around.

I would guess that Flashback's location will become nothing but landscaping with some trees. One of the problems as I recall was that lifeguards were complaining about the noise from Flashback so I doubt anything that makes "noise" will be replacing it.
Six Flags Great America is a great park with nice coasters (including my favorite at the park Deja Vu), but they are a long way from becoming the coaster capital of the world.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Agreed! SFGA is a LONG way from becoming the coaster capital of the world. Park of being the title isn't having 'coasters' it's about service, cleanliness, safety.... I can make a list.
I just watched a show on Discovery Channel last night (The Everything you need to know repeat on Coasters) and they referred to CP as the coaster capital.
Yep, because Discovery Channel is THE authority on coaster parks and couldn't possibly be using Cedar Points marketing suggestions.

I forgot the " ;) " after my comment. It was my thought exactly. It's all in the marketing of a product (park)
I live in the chicagoland area and I love roller coasters. I have been going to SFGA for 20 years and it is about 30-45 min away from me and I still go to Cedar Point more every year than that dump. In fact because of CP I dont even look forward to going to SFGA anymore.
I could name so many things wrong with the park and you cant even compare it to CP. The rides are weak, the lines are outrageous and people that go to that park "fuhget about it"!!!!
