Good restaurants after park closes in Sandusky

I did a search and couldn't find a thing close to this in CP Place. I just made it back from CP last week. My question is what good restaurants can be found after the park closes? This is regarding all restaurants OFF the property.

TGIFridays and East of Chicago buffet closes at 11 (1 hr after the park) - and most everything else other than the 24 taco bell, burger king, and mcdonalds. Any late night local mom and pop restaurants or bars that have decent food that I missed to find? Didn't check, but looked like Ruby Tuesday closes early since it's inside the mall. I have a GPS and failed to still find anything open in the US 250 portion and beyond (other than the fast food).

Buffalo Wild Wings way out on 250 is open until 2 AM. Steak and Shake is open 24 hours. Other than those, you're going to have fun finding restaurants open late.

Diana's! There's also Steak N' Shake, and the assorted fast food places are usually open pretty late, some even 24 hours I believe.

Well, none of those restaurants are in my "good" category. Get late reservations for Bay Harbor Inn or Damon's. Bay Harbor is pricier but worth the money in my opinion.

I second the Dianna's opinion. Great little locally owned restaurant/deli with a 24 hour breakfast menu. There's also a Steak n Shake down the road by the Meijer store.

If you're looking for a bar that serves good food, try the Thirsty Pony at the end of the causeway. It's a sports bar with some decently good food and drink offerings.

I've eaten at Thirsty Pony one time and that will be the ONLY time I ever eat there!

We were there during lunchtime one weekday and the service was horribly slow...and it wasn't even busy.

I've been there a few times, always while it was busy and after midnight, and never had a problem with service.

Outback closed at 11 Sun-Thurs I believe.
Applebees was open late enough for us to order dinner that night. Your average Applebee's meal, and it was past 11:00 PM, we were there until midnight and we saw a group of four sit down at the bar, get served, and order meals.

Our Comfort Inn hotel is a nice choice, and was jam packed every night we were there. This hotel also has a bar right by the outside pool. Made it a nice place to unwind at night.
Only downside of eating out when your at the park is you wish your waiter was faster.

I am generally bored with the in-park food. Hamburgers, nachos, chicken fingers, dippin dots, and pizza. *** Edited 8/3/2007 3:05:59 PM UTC by factory81***

I totally forgot about the thirsty pony even though it's hard to forget being right at the entry intersection to CP. I did see Diana's but thought it was closed due to the signage outside was off. I'll put them on my list for the next CP trip THANKS!

There is a Nice Restaurant called "DANNY BOYS" right on 250 by Bogart Rd, and it is Open till 10pm.

"DANNY BOYS" is the BEST Italian Restaurant on 250 in Sandusky, and they are Open till 10pm in the weekdays and 11pm on Fri, Sat, and Sunday. You will get a lot on your plate, and you will take many back home too. We go there many times and there is good pizza and subs, and many other things on their menu too.

My friends and I seem to have started a post-park tradition of going to Friendly's... we can usually make it there easily, even after staying at the park till close. I want to say they're open 'till (at least) midnight. The food's hit and miss, but it's kid-friendly (if you have kids up way past their bedtime, LOL,) and the ice cream's a great throwback to childhood... at least for me.

It's right there on 250 as you head back towards most of the major roads, on the right, in front of Ghastly Manor (or whatever that thing is called. Scared the crud out of me the first time I pulled into the parking lot without knowing it was there... LOL!!)

Chett and Matts was open pretty late, they had okay pizza. It wasn't the BEST like some people say it is. I would maybe try Cameo or East of Chicago next time.

Next time in Sandusky I am going to try that italian restaurant mentioned above, and Cedar Villa. Do they serve alcohol?

Not to mention Berardis? I think they are called. If I recall Cedar Villa looked open pretty late.

I suppose anything is cheaper then park food. *** Edited 8/5/2007 7:42:24 PM UTC by factory81***

East of Chicago sucks. Chet and Matt's is tons better. Pizza Pan has really good pizza too, but it's not a sit-down place.

Word of advice: do not eat at Max and Erma's on route 250, the service is slow and the waitresses are very nasty if ya know what I mean... :(

We've eaten at that Max and Erma's a number of times and have always had a good experience.

ya I was just going to say Max and Erma's. They are really good. They have a kick-ass Buffalo sandwich. Last time we went there tho we had to wait forever for our food and when we got it it was cold. But I think that it was because we had a new waitress.

I avoided Max and Ermas because of past experiences with the ones in our home state of NC. Had the same exact bad experience happen numerous times. Service was really slow - wasn't busy, and food came out cold. Must be in their company guidelines.

It's the south. Doesn't everything move slower there? :)
