Yeah it's not bad I went one trip. I still will miss Cooker like no other. I'm surprised it went under, food was great and business looked like it was moving people. I just wish I could duplicate some of the recipies. That dip for the fried green tomatoes and the Margherita chicken sandwich they made were just absolutely amazing. Oh the infused waters were impressive as well..
I miss that food.

I wasn't a big fan of Cooker's. Except for those little sweet and savory biscuits they served. Yum! The rest of the menu was just OK IMO. Of course your milage may vary.
Now Mekong, I haven't had anything close to bad there. The appetizer sampler is beyond good!
Add to that, they are the only place in town that will have Three Floyd's on tap, and it's a no-brainer!
FFF is tied for my favorite brewery. I love their beers, and I love that place. I can't wait to get back out there.
I will have you know, it's because of this thread, that made me so hungry that I had to have beef pho for the first time. I really enjoyed it. Not from Mekong but I will have to visit there next summer. It seems beer is the answer.

Since a lot of people on here are from the Cleveland area, I have to ask. Where is a good place to eat around Quicken Loans Arena? I'm going to a concert there on Thursday and want to eat somewhere good before.
Let's Get Weird.
^ In reply to the above post, Thirst Parrot is affordable for decent food nearby The Q
Lots of good places on E 4th Street, in various price ranges. See http://www.east4thstreet.com/dining
There is also a Winking Lizard on Prospect (good bar food) and Tower City Center (where the indoor walkway to Quicken Loans Arena is) has a Hard Rock Cafe, Morton's Steakhouse, Houlihan's and Lincoln Tap House plus a large food court.
On the corner of Ontario and Prospect, right across from the casino, you can find a Tilted Kilt which is sort of an Irish themed Hooters with decent bar food.
Also, if you are into buffets, the casino has an excellent buffet called The Spread on the lower level.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Thirsty Pony. Went there twice this past weekend. One night I got nachos and another I got hot wings. Great food both nights and reasonably priced. This place will be in my regular rotation of where to eat after going to the park.

If you're a burger person I suggest the MOB from the Thirsty Pony. One of the best burgers I have ever had.

Thirsty Pony is great and at least a one time must. The food is decent and reasonable, do account for big portions. My Reuben I usually get is never finished every time I get it, it's just massive.
Any local places that serve Walleye are a great find.
Diannas Deli. It's cheap easy and quick diner food 24/7. Very nice quick place to get a bite to eat, especially on midnight closings & whatnot. Their breakfast is very tasty, especially the Country Fried Steak.
Jolly Donuts (all you CP employees just laughed) serves good donuts, if you're in the area early, hey grab a box
Taco Fish...It's a Taco Bell & Long John Silvers, pretty sweet combo for fast food
Chet & Matt's. Great pizza joint. Huge pizzas, lots of toppings, and interesting special pizzas. The Taco one is actually awesome.
J's Bistro. Fancy upscale place, my favorite place to eat in Sandusky. Love the menu and the place. Not somewhere you can go in shorts & a tank top, but if you're there for a weekend, it's worth planning

I have always like Cameo's Pizza, it can get a little packed when sports games are on but its always good food and service.
Sortino's on Cleveland Rd. is probably one of my favorite Italian restaurants, with an amazing atmosphere.
I love Chet and Matts for a quick buffet style lunch. Their pizza is awesome!
Dianna's I wouldn't even recommend to my worst enemy. It always has a funky smell in there (kind of like a wet dog) every time I walk in. Not to mention, it's one of those restaurants that don't clean the condiment caps, leaving crust around the rim when you open it up. I can't stand that, and I gag every time. Their pancakes are the ONLY thing I would recommend if you do decide to go there, and even then, Perkins are still better.
Pier 684 at battery park used to be my favorite place for lunch with an awesome view of the Point from across the bay. But sadly, they're turning it back into a Damon's come mid May :(
One from the past: a trip to Cedar Point was never complete without a stop at Cedar Villa. Old school Italian restaurant, the best spaghetti and meatballs ever (according to my mother, whose expertise in this area cannot be questioned :-) ), the always-amusing Bubbles the cashier, who looked exactly how you'd imagine an Italian restaurant cashier named Bubbles to look
....
These days I don't really have a favorite off-Point eatery.

Thanks to Thabto for bumping an old, but very interesting, thread that I had never seen before.
It's funny reading some of the responses. To suggest that BWW, Longhorn, or any other such chain restaurant is a "good place to eat" makes me chuckle a little. But who's to say my opinion is right? Those places must be doing something right to stay in business.
I can't believe I've STILL never tried Thirsty Pony. I'm committing to going there once during Coastermania. We are staying three nights so there should be plenty of opportunity. I loved reading about some of the other local places I've never heard of, I'll be giving some of those a try! We did try Chet and Matts for lunch buffet and left entirely unimpressed, but I'd give them a second chance after so many positive things said about them here.
