Good friends, good times CP'n 07-25

I have some very good friends in California who I hadn't seen in 10 years decide they wanted to meet my daughter Sam and I at CP Friday. They flew into Sandusky airport (on their own plane!) and my day began as a personal tour guide to my most fav place on earth. Much to my disappointment Raptor was down for the first 3 hours, no biggie however since I knew it would eventually open. On their "must ride" list was Magnum thanks to them seeing me on the Discovery Channel last year! Maggie was hauling too, we ended up riding it 2x, one being our 10pm freeway. Although I usually avoid CP in July like the plaque I was glad to see crowds weren't all that bad. The longest wait we had the entire day was for MF - 1 hour but since they LOVED it (despite getting Tony's fav yellow train ;)) it was worth the wait. Raptor did come back up and turned out to be the the kids favorite (smart kids!) and I managed 2 more flights (763 total now-237 to go! :)) I actually ate some CP food which I had commented I hoped no one saw me do since a true Po!nter rarely eats CP food! (elephant ears, funnel cakes and fries do not count) I also ended up spending over 100.00 on CP stuff again! Wth is up with that? I have got to stay out of those stores! TTD was actually running (the signs around the park advising it would be open cracked me up) we witnessed far more rollbacks then I had ever seen, as well as several delays. Why doesn't it ever rollback when I'm on it?? Wait sign said 4 hour wait so we opted for no TTD for us! I ended up meeting up with Hooper (who himself witnessed me eating CP food!) and as always was a hilarious encounter sharing some of our crazy stories with my friends. Eventually saw Matt (Skykicker) and Dave (DodgemDave) too.
Had an interesting Mr Skyward meeting, he saw me come off Magnum and waited for me at the exit where he decided to stand there and have a conversation with me. You can imagine my friends standing there thinking wth? So I said "well John, gotta go!" and we all split. I have to admit though even though Mr Skyward had on a brand new OSU shirt I still reconized him....gee, wonder why? ;) I did explain to my friends who he was and that he was quite the CP celebrity thanks to us! :)

All in all it was a great day-I was the one who outlasted ALL of them though-they pooped out many times, as for me I was ready to ride something else!!! We got to stay at the Radisson which was a treat. From our room we
could see the top of TTD and counted 3 roll backs yesterday morning watching from our deck.
Also we found it interesting to watch the Saturday CP traffic backing up to the CP sign - you have got to be out of your mind to head to CP on a Saturday! I've always been in the park (working there) on a Saturday and never got to see 1st hand the arriving traffic. What a mess!!!

High points of the day: Showing off the park was fun for me. Riding the coasters with my friends and their kids was a blast, there is always something so awesome about riding them with someone who has never ridden them before that makes them even more fun. Seeing these very special friends obviousely to me was the best part of the whole trip :) They invited Sam and I out to California to check out some of their amusement parks!

Low points of the day: Humidity-I certainly picked the wrong day to wear a black shirt! :( As the day progressed you began to notice more and more people who's deodorant had given out several hours before. Blech! :(
I could say here Raptor being down in the morning but since it came back up later on and stayed up that wasn't that big a deal.

Best lines of the day: Friends while on Frontier Trail "Just exactly how big is this park anyway???"
Silver tag when I got off MF: "Why don't you work on MF or TTD instead of Raptor this season?"
(to which I replied yea right!)

Cedar Point was it's usual impressive self all day-making me proud to show it off and proud to be a certified
Po!nter (despite the bratwurst and dippin dots I ate!)

Hooper-awesome picture!!! ;)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

Yeah, I was surprised to see you in a black shirt. I was wondering why is she wearing black? Crap you got to see Mr. Skyward and I missed him. Oh and no problem on the picture, just trying to change it up a little at CP. HA!!! And yes Matt, Dave and I have thought of a few more. Oh, you must not have been on fashion police patrol because some of the stuff....."BLECH". Well that's alot of inside stories in that post...oh well. :)

Oh there must be some strange problem with Dragsters sled brakes, because usually the train is sitting there waiting to launch for a long period of time. You see the sled brakes go up and down many times. Then the dragster engines dies out and the crowd goes "Awwww". Then when it decides to, it launches. I didn't see any brakes sticking though which was my first thought. So I don't know what is going on.

TTD Status: "Contaminates in the system" S.K. Per my conversation
EA Sports "It's in the Game"

Jo,

I am sorry to hear about your luck on the yellow train, but I have been their done that before! Sorry that I missed everyone, but I had other places to be.

If you thought that the traffic was bad on the Causeway then you should have seen it on 250! I could not even get out of the hotel parking lot.

Actually valid reason for the black shirt, that's what I told our guests I would have on so it would be easy for them to find us. But as all my CP buds can vouch I am so sure even without the black shirt them finding us or us finding them would NOT have been an issue!

Fashion police: My guests are from sunny California, home of the "beautiful people" in their own words so you KNOW they were just in awe (shock?) with some of the guests. I am wondering if you happened to see the one chick we saw who had shorts (thongs?) on and had the whole bottom half of her butt hanging out?? I was like OMG, and of course thought, "obviousely she hasn't had any kids" :) I had NEVER seen anything like that before EVER at CP!

Also a post script to my TR since my b/f decided to read it and isn't happy I left something out. A very special thank you to my wonderful b/f for letting me borrow his duelly while my truck was getting worked on. He was completely terrified the whole time I was gone. Something about me not being able to drive it worth a crap. Of course, he is referring to when there is the 5 horse trailer attached, then I have to agree, I can't drive it worth a crap. And then it's just this issue about backing up. ;)
