Gold Pass - Justification

Bye bye thread 👋🏼

Cedar Fair approved the Gold Pass and Cedar Point offered it. That is the only justification needed.

Cedar Fair also approved Fast Lane+ and Cedar Point offered it. That is the only justification needed.

Same for IROC, Intamin contracts, Drone Ban, Low Employee wages, Cafeteria grade food services, etc... no need to discuss anything ever again or share your opinion.

They might as well close down guest services and put up a sign that everything offered at Cedar Point was approved by Cedar Fair, it’s justified.

It is time for a change, guests are tired of empty promises, too often the promises that are made are not kept.

For example...…...

1200 riders per hour for Steel Vengeance - has NEVER happened, not once in 360 tries. {F}

Ride operations are continually getting worse. Other Cedar Fair parks strive for quick ride operations, not a Cedar Point. They have not reached Six Flags or Kennywood levels, but they are on that path. {C-}

Many early entry rides are closed due to whatever reason time and time again. And I am not talking about weather. Guests spend a premium to stay at the resorts for the one main purpose of early entry. That is now a diminished value due to the fact the rides are not open for early entry. {D}

The majority of guests come to the park to ride the rides, I would say 90% of the guests, and seeing the amount people actually going into Forbidden Frontier on a daily basis only proves that theory.

I enjoy Forbidden Frontier, but just calling what I see, and it is important for Cedar Point to get the rides aspect right, with mores guests coming into the park, they need to get the ride ops and food service lines act together, or you will see a WOF incident where angry people start fighting.

It’s funny for me to read such things. In my experience CP is one of the top parks for safety and high ride capacities and throughput. They are quite conscious to the fact and literally strive for excellence.

I wonder what role One-price Ride-All-Day admissions played on the People Per Hour numbers? Imagine a time when, money was made per ride. Each individual rider for each ride. You best’a believe they were getting you on and off with breakneck efficiency.

unfathomable, really.

As for Early Entry, I was at early entry 25 times this season and only once did "Steel Vengeance" have the line open at 9:00 A.M. Every other time you had to wait an extra 15 minutes plus because they were not through with getting the ride ready for the day.

I don't want to hear about this horse crap saying that they needed to work on putting more supports on the ride etc......

Hey here is an idea, have those people start an hour earlier and the problem would take care of itself.

You are essentially saying your precious platinum pass ride time is more important than completing safety checks. Overnight maintenance is a thing, maintenance is there 24/7 during the season. If the ride isn't ready for 9am, it's not ready for a reason.

And after 25 Early Entry visits you still aren't happy. I think the solution here is for you to find a new hobby and take some time off Cedar Point. I know if I went somewhere that made me as angry and disappointed as Cedar Point makes you, I sure wouldn't go 25 times a year.

No, what I am saying it that Cedar Point needs to get their act together regarding Early Entry.

It should be completely flipped around, out of the 25 times, it shouldn't have opened on time lets say 3 or 4 times.

Safety is paramount, but Cedar Point knew they had an issue with the integrity of the structure so instead of having the carpenters start earlier to shore up the coaster, Cedar Point just took the attitude that it will open when it opens.

If it doesn't open on time, throw "Tony Clark" under the bus and have him send out a tweet that Steel Vengeance will not open for early entry, it will be a delayed opening.

Again, one of the biggest perks of staying at Cedar Point properties is the Early Entry and to enjoy all the rides that are supposedly available for early entry.

It is time for that promise to be held accountable.

They need to realize that they did a horrible job in 2019 and that needs to be improved upon for 2020.

I understand some of the animosity a lot of the community on here has towards Just Coasting, however, telling someone to not go somewhere or take time off from a place that used to once be an awesome getaway is kind of ridiculous. I mean, we know the potential the park has, so I think some people are allowed to hold higher expectations and give constructive criticism when it is necessary.

Within the past couple of months, it’s clear that a lot of the Pointbuzz community isn’t very happy with the way things are going or being offered based off of the expressed disinterest. Does that mean we should all not go next year? Absolutely not. I mean the rides are still top quality attractions. We’re just not happy how things are being run compared to the past.

I suppose one could argue that “the past is in the past”, however, I think in the back of our minds, we have this small hope that management will make some noticeable steps in the right direction upon each visit.

And you know this is fact how?

When the carpenters don't show up until Early Entry to start shoring up Steel Vengeance, they could always just play this after the national anthem

Ever come to think that MAYBE, just MAYBE, they were working on the back or even that's the next shift?

Cedar Point knew what needed to be done and didn't do it.

Hoping this offseason some effort will put into action on Steel Vengeance so this doesn't happen again next year, but I am not holding my breath.

You should write a strongly worded letter.

ALL CF parks use the IROC (garbage) policies now. And this second statement here simply isn't true.

My last visit to KD was terrible. I even heard a ride op tell his co-worker to not rush and to slow down. On I305.

Canada's Wonderland on my visit in August was also pretty terrible with their operations.

I have been to every CF park except WoF and CGA and I see the same terrible, slow operations at every park. It's mostly due to the new "safety" standards that IROC audits them on. The company needs to ditch them and return to internal training and audits if there is ever hope to get back to anything close to what they once were.

How long has CP/CF been running this IROC protocol?

ROUNDABOUND.

If you seem to know exactly what's going on, and what's being done wrong. Why haven't you tried to join the company and be part of the "solution" ?

You know, seeing how you have all the facts.

Since 2014 or 2015. I can’t remember the exact year.

Not sure what IROC protocol is but when I was at both Kings Island and Carowinds this season I saw ride crews trying to break records to see how many trains they could dispatch in an hour.

I thought it was great seeing the ride ops trying their best to dispatch trains as quickly as possible.

Trying to dispatch trains quickly and effectively.

It was nice to see ride ops excited about this rather than just going about their job at a mediocre pace. I know this pace cannot be kept up the entire day, but it is nice to see them try this for one hour once a day to see how well they can do loading and dispatching trains.
