Make new friends at CP OR party with your old friends at home.

Make $x/hr at CP, eat and pay for CF food, pay rent OR make same $x/hr at local job, no rent, eat Mom's cooking and Dad's grilling.

Live in hot, noisy, rundown dorms at CP OR your old private room back home, with AC, private shower, 65" TV with surround sound, your dog, Dad's man cave, free laundry, mow the lawn for Dad to keep him happy. Maybe take a class at local CC for cheap credits.

My oldest turns 18 in September and I am having a tough time thinking of a way to sell this.

I think you summed it up pretty good Cargo. Working at the park is a hard sell these days.

Good question Skyhawk. I don’t know how the old compensation package compares to the current one adjusted for inflation. As CED23 pointed out the environmental factors have changed, internships are almost a requirement to be considered for the good jobs after graduation. Not everyone had AC back in the 60’s/70’s. Families were larger and many already shared bedrooms. Many still had black and white TVs and only one. A common HS graduation gift was luggage. 😂

I would do anything to be 18 again but I sure wouldn’t want to live in 80’s again (or earlier). IMO overall quality of life is better than it has ever been, despite what our leaders would have you believe.

Believe it or don't, but I actually tried to apply last year. Besides, there's other jobs in my hometown that have my interest such as the marina or the post office. Not to mention my low self confidence.

Also, I went to Hersheypark for my HS graduation. :D

It’s a fun job, but being a guest at CP is never the same afterwards. I wouldn’t mind working there again if morale increased to what it once was. Employees don’t need the extra incentives. They just want to be shown their hard work is appreciated. That alone doesn’t cost anything.

The shorter lines today versus the long lines then are further proof that Magnum is much rougher now. If it was rough back then no one would have wanted to ride it:)

I know it's not CP but if GL was still around in an amusement park form I would gladly work 2-3 nights a week as a part time employee not for the glorious paycheck but because I actually loved it and miss doing it.

Working at a park was the most fun I ever had with a job. And my closest friends now are the ones I made there.

If I lived within 30 mins to CP I would probably consider it too, if they were interested in someone who only wanted 2-3 5 hour shifts a week.

Agree with that. As an adult professional, I'd gladly work 2-3 evenings a week and perhaps 6-8 hours every other Saturday or Sunday during the season. But it's not an option. It's either 80 hours a week or nothing.

Flexibility in scheduling goes a long with employee productivity as a result of increased employee happiness. Some of the most enjoyable jobs I had were those with flexible scheduling because my co-workers actually wanted to be there when they were there. Everything just works better when everyone wants to be at work.

Magnum ran the best in a very long time last year. The restraints padding addition was helpful too. It's never going to pull big lines anymore, except on jammed days when everything including Corkscrew has a significant wait.

Vortex? There's a ride named Vortex at Cedar Point?

That's how you know it's crowded. The rides that don't even exist have long lines.

To be fair chances are there is a game in the arcade called Vortex. 😆

I foresee a long line of people with cargo shorts, safety straps on their glasses and BO in line for that game...

I've already got it mate. I've got a strap for my sunglasses, cargo shorts, and also a water bottle.

What I am seriously lacking is patch jacket. What do you think Skyhawk, should I start with a denim Mickey patch jacket or go more grassroots and check out the thrift shops? Keep in mind I plan on having a ton of patches so will probably need some sort of sash for it like Scouts use.

Magnum is still a fairly popular ride. It was the 4th most ridden ride in 2018, despite not being open for early entry.

I'm pretty sure Shades was being sarcastic.
