There really isn't a kitchen. They have an area between the two buildings that has vending machines and a microwave. Last year the microwave was kind of nasty because people would make a mess and not clean it up, that was gross. There is a second microwave at the front of building 1 also. So, unfortunately, no stove, just a microwave!

Back to the Breakers this summer! :)

But you are practically ten feet from the cafeteria, so don't worry. The cafeteria is really cheap, good food, and I never felt like I would have had time to cook at CP anyway.

The microwave in gold is about what you get when you stay in a commons apartment. We had no ovens because of some silly fire safety worry. I mean good lord drunken 20 year olds are extremely responsible. I would have traded the microwave for the stovetop anytime. The stovetop was a pretty good "fusing mechanism" for a pack of very loud firecrackers however.
Who needs a stove when they invented EASY MAC!!!

I mean, honestly...

You can make quite a lot of things in a microwave... Baked potatoes, steamed vegetables, soup, hot dogs, pasta, even things like cake if you have a good microwave cookbook.

Like I said, I would have taken the radar-range any time back then over that nasty, dirty yellow stove top.
Easy Mac is one of the greatest things invented, lol.

I lived on 10 cans of chicken noodle soup, a pack of hot dogs (the chicken kind), and 10 ears of corn my first week because i only had 3$ left for food and that is what I could buy at the local store. The microwave at the FT Inn was very useful for fixing my lunch/dinner back in the day. I actually would be hungry at the end of the day...I would hate to feel what a Kurd feels.
You tell the funniest stories, Red. ^_^ You could write a hilarious book about your summer at CP.

i wholeheartedly agree with the easy mac concept...that was something even I couldn't screw up....oh and gold NEVER had a kitchen lol, and just for the record i want to tell Lee that no matter WHAT she says about Gold it will ALWAYS be the crappiest "dorm" to stay in while working at cedarpoint...why??..b/c those 2 buildings are not only run down, creaky AND old but i bet if the wind blows hard enough one day, those buildings will fall down...i've experienced gold and never again will i put myself through it again....the showers suck, the atmosphere sucks...commons is the way to go......oh and BIG UP to tiffany for being about to go hold it down at cp in a couple days, she's doing BIG THINGS...do me a favor, scope out the dudes and get back to me on that...alright???......and another BIG UP to cp princess and i for making the journey of all journeys this past weekend....it was fun and can't wait to go back to canada......see ya in less than a month......

Genevieve, you always "keep it real." That's what's fun about you. Hey, some people like living in Gold...didn't Kristi (from Front Gate) stay there? I agree with you that it would be nice if they were torn down and something more modern was built, but people live there anyway in the state they're in now and even move from Commons to Gold and Cedars -- for one thing they're cheaper for rent and that's an incentive to a lot of people. (When it's not broke, there's no need to fix it, I guess). I always feel sorry for people who leave after the first few days because they can't stand how old the housing is...they're giving up an incredible summer because of a room they're only in about 10 hours a day -- including sleeping!! My room at Cedar Point is a place to eat and sleep; the fun happens elsewhere.

Kristi did live in Gold the last two summers, she liked it. I think it was more for the location than anything else.
