So it looks like, barring a bunch of precipitation, I might be headed to the park, this Friday, Oct. 16. The temperature might drop as low as the mid-30s. I was just curious whether anyone has ever gone under these conditions, and what their impressions were. I plan on dressing warmly, and a flask of bourbon will at least provide the illusion of heat. Do any of the coasters have a minimum temperature required to operate? I can imagine that because the wheels won't heat up as much, they might be sluggish. I just don't want to get there and find that nothing is running even in the absence of precipitation.
Also, will they let you wear tight-fitting sock hats on the coasters? I imagine that could be determinative of whether something like MF would be enjoyable.
I'm scrambling to find an alternate date, but tomorrow may be the only one that works for the largest number of people. Any advice is welcome, and thanks.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
First things first - its usually not a good idea to advertise that you'll be illegally carrying around alcohol.
Yes, dress warm. Layers are your friend. I'm not sure about the winter hat thing, but I do recommend a hood of some sort, so that you can draw it closed to protect your face on rides like MF. Also, bring some sort of eye wear that you can wear on rides. If its sleeting, you're not going to want to open your eyes at 90mph. :)

Alcohol gives the illusion of making you warmer because it warms up your arms, legs and face at the expense of your core body temp. Not the best of ideas. Although the idea of sneaking a flask of alcohol into the park is a pretty illegal idea in the first place...
Some of the rides that rely on compressed air will close when temps drop below 40. Other than that, I'm not aware of any temperature limits on the rides.
i will be attending halloweekends this october and was wondering what the least busy weekend to go would be, in terms of crowds. also i was wondering if the rooms in hotel breakers had heat? silly question i know but with this being mainly a summer hotel i have to ask as it does get cold in october. also is breakers east actually hooked onto the main breakers lobby? it looks like you may have to go out side to get to breakers east. how is breakers east? is it clean and modern? i stayed in bon air quite a while ago and it was just plain nasty. want a better experience this time. thanks guys!
The whole hotel is connected. And the rooms do have heat. As for which weekend is the least busy, it's very hard to tell. First of all, pretty much every Halloweekend is guaranteed to be jam packed if the weather is good. If you get a beautiful 60-70 degree October Saturday you can bet the park will be full. It's very dependent on the weather. Another general rule of thumb is that Friday nights are the least busy because of limited hours and ride availability. Saturdays are the busiest. Sundays are between Friday and Saturday crowds. They are very dependent on the weather too.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
