No it does not, they stopped that nonsense years ago. Along with only being able to get a replacement pass at the park of issuance.
We had run into this issue in 2011 when we got our passes at Carowinds and needed a replacement at CP because one wouldn’t scan and they wanted me to go to Charlotte to replace it. It seriously took like three levels of managers to simply replace a card for $5. They said they were working on fixing the issue.
Then the year Banshee arrived at Kings island, they tried saying they couldn’t process passes from CP, however one low level manager knew that CPs systems had an extra number in the online purchase order and all they had to do was drop that number when keying it in. Apparently CP was the only one that did that at the time. Since then it has worked fine for us to order online and get them at different parks, the only caveat is any free FL or something from one park may not transfer to another.
Interesting. Because that wasn’t the case last October at KI with my CP based pass...
I think it’s simply a case of really really really bad training on CFs part.
As with pretty much anything CF Policy related, it is always safer to call and ask the park instead of relying on actual experience from guests.
For what it's worth, last year we bought our Platinum Passes during the tax deadline sale through CP's site, and processed them at King's Island. Everything was fine.
