Going on Your Own

"I have never gone by myself but I can only imagine how boring it must be to wait through a Dragster breakdown with nobody to talk to." --S2Kster

I would deliberately find reasons to sit in Dragster's line when it was broken down last season. After flying through the park in the AM (especially when I was by myself) I would be tired enough to look for a low key place to go. If Dragster was down, I'd sit in line and read a book or play solitaire. I would get a nice break until Dragster opened, get off of my feet for a while, and as a perk...pretty good line position when it opened back up. And if I decided I was done taking a break, I'd get out of line. After all, I didn't lose anything in the process. Pretty odd, I know...

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

I prefer going by my self. I can do what I want when I want. Then again noramlly less than after an hour of being there I run into someone I know.

I prefer going by myself especially if I want to power ride Millennium Force all day long. No one else likes to ride it that many times or wait in line that long for a ride. Besides I usually run into someone and end up having a riding partner before the day is over.

I usually go a few times alone and another 3 or so with fam or friends......I always find myself going on dragster, magnum, milleninum, and wicked twister.....after that I'm satisfied and its on to fridays at breakers or the former boathouse for late lunch and a few brews.....A good half day trip from Toledo......

It funny, maybe its the fact that ive been going for 30 years always with family or friends. It is the one and only park i dispise going to alone.

I went all alone on my visit last year. I absolutely loved it. You can ride what you wanna ride without anyone having to disagree with you and wanting to ride something else. Heated arguments start, and well, it goes from there. Hitting a place like CP by your lonesome is the ultimate getaway. Oh yeah, and you don't have to worry about staying close together to friends and family, because I find riding with different people to be quite enjoyable.

I have a feeling that this season I will be going it alone for the first time. Last year I had 4 buddies who had season passes and this year due to career changes and others moving out of state I will be lucky to have 2(that's being optimistic) friends who will purchase passes. I'm such a coaster junkie now I can foresee many trips all by my lonesome.
I'm not really that concerned about being at the park alone, I'm more worried about the drive(right around 2 hours). It is kind of funny now that I think about it because they usually slept all the way there and back anyways.

Ride Partner Needed, Experience Not Necessary ;)
I know myself I have gone a couple of times to the point by myself and the only reason is to get away from the stress at home. (not just my house, but my work and everything else that I have to take care of) Going by myself, I find peace and relaxation, sometimes I feel that I don't have to talk to anyone when I'm at the point, just stand in line and watch other people. Don't get me wrong, it nice to be with a group to mess around and laugh, but then its nice to be alone to not be bothered.

The only issue of riding solo is when you have to get on Raptor or Mantis, its a little more difficult being a single rider than on rides with only two seats.

If your not having fun, what are you having?

I think going alone is fun a couple of times a year - makes it easy to marathon those coasters that your friends would be saying "again?!?!" after the third trip =). But, it does get boring after a few times. I went by myself 4 times last year and I'm plannin on going to opening day by myself (I really need to get some other people to invest in season passes ... ) but I'm really not looking forward to it as much as I thought I would, only because there won't be anyone to talk to or share it with.

I've also been on a 7-day California park trip and a 3-day East PA/New Jersey park trip alone, and various other parks. The only thing that is sort of a toss up good or bad about it is that your days never seem to last as long - either you get everything done very quickly and you're just bored, or you just get bored and leave without doing everything you wanted to.

Going alone is nice when you get to do what you want at your own pace, pay special attention to details and attractions that you may normally pass by.

You can always meet people in the park, other one riders, and groups. One thing is for sure, you have something in common with the rest of the Coaster Fans there!

Thanks for all the comments. After reading about other people's experiences, I've decided that going alone could be a really good time and that I will head down on my own for opening day. Maybe I'll see some of you there, I'm planning on going to the meetings at Magnum and Raptor.

macho nachos: that drive back is going to be interesting for me to. I've got three hours to get back here.
