Going on Your Own

I am planning on going to CP a lot this summer, but it is hard to get others to go sometimes since my friends are not exactly into coasters as much as I am. For example, if I want to go on opening day, I'll probably have to do it on my own since none of my friends are interested since they think it will be too crowded. What I'm curious about is what is it like going on your own? It seems like it might be a little awkward, but I could be wrong.

I would rather go with others, but have had a good time going by myself, too. One thing you tend to do more when by yourself is people-watch.

Each visit is what you make of it. :)

one time i went with my little bro and dad and my little bro didnt want to ride any big rides so i went by myself and it really sucked, i had no fun. it sucked so much waiting in line by myself, having no one to talk to, it honestly was no fun. i dont want to say this to get your hopes down but to try to find someone to go with, even if its someone else you meet on here that is also going alone. i always have so much fun at CP with my friends goofing around in line and everything. but thats just my opinion on going alone, im sure some people dont mind.
It is always better to go with friends but I agree with MrScott, each visit is what you make of it. I have been going to CP for 35 years and went by myself for the first time last year. It was definately different but I had a great time. Bottom line is that CP is worth going to even if you are alone. Plus you get to choose what ride to go on.
Hi:

I go a lot by myself. You get on the coasters faster, since you are a single. Also if you mutter to yourself and look half crazed the people in line give you some room. (:

I picked up one of those 'family 2 way radios' to keep myself busy while in lines. It's fun listening to others getting upset.

hope this helps. Shon

I personally love going alone a few times a year. You can choose which rides you go on, when and where you stop for rest rooms and food... and even how fast you walk. A lot of times you'll end up talking to people around you in line anyway. I must have talked to hundreds of people last season while waiting in line at the Point.

I went alone twice last year and both times I had a blast. I will agree that its better with someone else but there are perks to going alone like the ones other people have mentioned. If you are outgoing like me then you will always find someone to talk to in line. I'd definately go alone again.

I've only been there once by myself, and it was on one of the Joe Cool Club night ERT days they had last year. I didn't get there until 5, and ERT ran from 8-9:30, but I had fun for the 4.5 hours I was there by myself. I was able to ride every coaster, including 5 rides on MF during the ERT.

It looks like opening day I'll be going alone. I'm a little bummed because opening day is always so much fun to share with someone, but literally every person I know is busy that day. At least it'll give me a lot of time to walk around and take pictures without someone complaining that they want to ride stuff.

I'm married to a non-coaster rider. I go to CP by myself more than I go with 1 of 2 friends who own a season pass. The first time I went by myself, it was kind of wierd. Now I enjoy the freedom of doing what I want, spending as much time as I want in a specific line or ride, and I go equipped with all the comforts I could need--a waterproof radio, a deck of cards, a bottle for water, and a paper back book. I enjoy the retreat to my favorite place to just enjoy some me time.

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

LOL, that is just too funny! I'll have to try that. Back on topic though, I go by myself all the time and have a great time. If I want to go, I'll go. If someone I know wants to come with me, that's fine and a lot of fun also, but don't let other people's schedules get in the way of your fun.

The ride, or show, or beer (had to put that in, right Tim?) is the same if a stranger or a friend is sitting next to you.

Any day at Cedar Point on your own is a lot better than a day at work surrounded by 50 people!

When I have my cameras, I'm almost always by myself. No one has the patience to hang with me when I'm in "photo" mode. :)

I have found that when you have your cameras with you, your cameras go to Cedar Point, not you.

I always go by myself. In fact I've only went *with* someone one time. I like it better that way for allot of reasons but mainly because once I get in the park, I'm excited and I walk really fast and people who might want to go with me have a really hard time keeping up without wearing out halfway thru the day.

I can totally agree with Walt on the camera thing too. The one time I was with somebody I got fussed at for stopping all the time to take pictures. Of course it was towards the end of the day and I had "walked" her to death and she was crabby anyhow! :)

Ive gone acouple times by my self its not horrible just post before you go and im sure you can find someone to meet there i did near the end of the season last year, tgifridays crew hung out with me.

I'm always dancing and parting in the que lines so if ya see me just yell TEAM RAMROD!!

I go by myself a lot after work during the week. Arrive around 5:30 and hangout until closing. If you got the right personality it can be fun. None of my friends have season passes, so they will only do one trip a year. Waiting in line can get boring, but I usually stay away from anything with more then a 45-minute wait. And I won’t go on a Friday or Saturday without my buddies. But it is nice to have the freedom to do whatever you want.

As you can see, there are a lot of people who go alone. You can also check the meeting calendar for days you plan to go, and many times you can meet up with other GTTP'ers for a few rides.

There have been several times I've gone to parks with the hubby who wears out after a couple of hours and will head to the car to take a nap or read while I continue riding.

In 60 or so trips last year, more than 1/2 were solo. I have a blast. Sometimes not riding anything. just walking the distance of the park (for excercise) and enjoying the ambiance (sp?) of being there. Too many times from Nov-Apr that I wish I could be walking the park.

in 2002 i proccessed in on a friday, but my training didn't start til the Sunday. i wandered around the park on my own on the saturday and had fun. i chatted to random people in the line. the only problem was i couldnt talk myself into going on millenium force. it was good to go in a week or so later with new friends, who force you to ride! but if you've no fear then be friendly and chat to others.

I have never gone by myself but I can only imagine how boring it must be to wait through a Dragster breakdown with nobody to talk to. I guess you can always talk to other guests while in line. I went to Knoebals by myself once...wasn't so bad.
I went alone two times last season and had a blast each time. You get to do what you want to do and only what you want to. You don't have to worry about the complainer of the group and you always end up with one of those. I suggest you go to Opening Day alone and just meet people while your their. It makes the visit more interesting.
