Going in August, need some help

So this will be my family's first trip to Cedar Point, We usally go to Kings Island,. And my questions is the only days we have available to go to Cedar Point are August 18th aka a Monday, and the 27th the last Wednesday of the month. So compared to both of those days which In you're opionion may be the best time to go? aka shorter lines, ect. My friend went the last week of Aug. last year and said it was really crowded, but I know every year is different. Although I hope neither are very crowded cause then i'll be forced to go to Kings Island instead every year. Also what ride would you say to try and hit first?
