I worked on the Go-Karts back in 2002. Personally, without any bias, I must say it's the best crew to work for at Cedar Point.
I'm not sure if they still do this or not, but Challenge Park employees used to help the lifeguards open up in the morning. It's what we called "Pool Opens".
I loved working the Go-karts. The hardest part for me was remembering what track I was working on. The spiel differs slightly for each track.
It's certainly not boring. In fact, it gets pretty interesting watching the drivers spinout. SAFETY is of utmost importance. It's one of the few rides in the park when the ride ops have very little control over the ride.
Good luck and have fun!
WARNING: Once you memorize the spiel, you will have it memorized for the rest of your life.
I'm too sexy for my harness!
a spiel is what you have to say everytime before you start a race.
i worked ripcord/scraper last year.. ummm, go karts = annoying. :) "drivers please stop your go karts" .. anybody else who worked ripcord knows one person in particular who was so annoying when saying this! I think hours may have changed for challange park, but its normally open an hour after the park closes.
that's all i got :) have fun!

Oh how I hated pool opens. I think I once paid someone to swap shifts with me to avoid one. :)
Challenge Park is an awesome place to work though. The Ripcord/Skyscraper crew will hate you if you scream into the microphones.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
get a lifeguard uniform if you do tops. because you look kind of dumb standing there with challenge park uniforms :)
and yes, ripcord/scraper will hate you if you scream into the microphone.
no but challenge park is a really fun place to work! i think the best place in the park :))

Awesome. Are you going to stay at Bayside again?
I don't know. I moved out of Bayside last year because of the whole roommate situation. I liked both Commons and Bayside.
Cool. I am not sure what I am doing. I'll probably be at Cedars again, because of when my college lets out; (after Spring Quarter). Let me know where you are going to be staying, so I CAN visit you. (If that's ok with you)
