Going to be working at CP this summer starting in 1 week and was wondering if there were like places were GLBT hang out at. Im a pretty laid back gay guy looking for other to hang out with and chill on my days off.. Im very masculine and most people cant tell im gay unless i tell them. So if there are any cool places to go plz let me know cause i just dont want to work and sleep all summer long i actually wanna enjoy it.
Im sorry if i percieved this wrong, but it sounds kind of like a personal ad.

I usually know what the acronym stands for, but in this context for a split second I thought it was something to do with 'Geauga Lake'. Hmmm... Geauga Lake Baton Twirling Choir? No, that would be GLBTC. Too many initials. How about...Geauga Lake Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato? No, that would be GLBLT. I know. How about Geauga Lake Bites The Dust? Again, no -- that would be GLBTD.

Gay, lesbian, bi, tranvestite. Come on, does no one here watch tv? lol. I don't live in Ohio, so I don't know many places like that. But when I was at CP this week I did notice that A LOT of the ride ops were (or atleast seemed like they were) gay. So I'm sure you can ask some of your fellow employees if there are places like that near Sandusky. :)
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
Of course I know what GLBT stands for. *rolls eyes* I have friends and acquaintances who are gay. But you can't tell me when something starting with 'GL' pops up on this board, nobody else sees the words "Geauga Lake".

^ lol I wasn't referring to your comment. Your's was pretty hilarious. And yes it does make me think of Geaugua Lake even if it's not on this board. lol.

Many of the gay folks in Sandusky enjoy Club X, a bar near downtown which has a shuttle to CP. Ryan Mahaffey posts here often about it and you may wish to contact him for more info.
I thought it was gay, lesbian, bi, and tri.

^ If you were talking about me, I'm a girl...not a guy. lol. And yes I guess I am sorry. Like Ben said, I don't really know that kind of terminology and what is respectful or disrespectful in using it. All I know is what I've heard. And those are the ones that I have heard.

There are lots of gay employees at cedar point. Theres a gay club in sandusky somewhere too and a little bus comes to commons to pick people up.
wow the poor guy asks a simple question and is lambasted...but the comments were pretty damned funny, I must admit. :) And creative to boot! Geauga Lake Baton Twirlers...yeah...that "would" be pretty gay. Sequined unitards and all. Geauga Lake Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato?? Please...definitely hold the mayo!!
I don't want to start an entire, lenthy thread/discussion here, but I would like to open the dialogue for this person, as well as others who may be curious.
Cedar Point (as do many other amusement related industries) has a rather large percentage of GLBT employees. The actual numbers are inconclusive as college age males are still in an experimentation phase.
Obviously, this is a very critical period for young people. (i.e. the voyeurism factor and "thrill" created in the open shower stall of Cedars dorms, the idea that they are away from family/friends/girlfriends who they may feel instill a sense of shame, etc. about being gay, etc.)
The resulting confusion created by "openly homosexual" males about sexual orientation adds to the confusion. Even more insidious is the manner to which these males "encourage" others to experiment, often with the aid of alcohol. (i.e. "This is our little secret", "You're really drunk, I won't tell anybody".).
For those who may be questioning/curious/out, etc...there are a surprising number of resources in such a small community such as Sandusky. To begin with, they may visit www.firelandspride.org- a local gay online resource guide.
Club Xcentricities- known to "X" by the locals is a gay bar/club located at 306 West Water Street in downtown Sandusky, Ohio. Monday and Thursday nights are Cedar Point employee nights. There is always entertainment including drag shows, amateur strip contests, etc.
Crowbar- a much newer bar opened recently at 206 W. Market Street and features live entertainment and WiFi access for your laptops. Mondays are Cedar Point Employee Nights.
Later in the season (July??) there will be a NorthCoast Cruise on the waters of Lake Erie that will benefit HIV services at Agape House and Pantry.
Also, buy into the stereotype and check out the "obviously" gay (LOL!) local community theater companies. Many produce Summer theater productions including nearby Huron Playhouse 325 Ohio Street- TheMcCormick School, Huron OH...which produces a lengthy Summer stock season, Fremont Community Theater- 1562 Dickinson Street in Fremont OH 43420 (1/2 hour west), The Coming Attractions Players (hosting "Seussical" auditions June 8th & 9th, 1 hr west in Toledo..myspace.com/tcaptheatre), The Toledo Rep, 16 10th Street in Toledo OH ("Cabaret" opens this weekend...visit toledorep.org)
So Sandusky is not without its Mister Sisters this Summer, fo' sho!! To sing the immortal words of Stephen Sondheim, "You are not alone...truly no one is alone."
