This was a very spur of the moment trip. I got up at 6 am to get
ready for work when about 6:30 some friends of mine called and said
they were going to the park and wanted to know if I wanted to go
too.
HMMM...go to work or ride coasters all day? TOUGH DESCISION(LOL).
Needless to say I played hookey from work.
We got to the park around 1pm. It was great because the park wasn't
busy at all.
First stop: Pepsi Plunge - 15 min. wait
I sure hope CF doesn't decide to take out this log ride like
they have at Cedar point. I is a great way to cool of on a warm day.
Second stop: Double Loop - walked on (middle of train)
For an old Arrow this one still packs a pretty good punch. The
middle of the train gives you some nice air time in a couple of
spots, which is always a bonus.
Third stop: Thunderhawk - 20 min. wait (front seat)
The front is the only way to go so you can see and get the true
feeling of flying. One thing I noticed this time is how the trains
lag going throug the inversions(front car only). You get this slow
down feeling about half way through an inversion waiting on the rest
of the train to catch up. I is actually pretty cool to feel.
Fourh stop: The Beach Comber - For lunch
I was really impressed with the food here. At first glance the
prices seemed high, but when the food came the portions were nice
size. I had the chicken fingers basket, and I could barely eat all
of it. FREE refills too!!!
Fifth Stop: The Big Dipper - walk on (back seat)
This is my sentimental favorite. THe old girl has never let me
down for a great ride. I spent more time out of my seat than in it.
the only thing I miss is it being painted white. It always looked
so impressive when it was the color.
Sixth stop - Wild Water Kingdom
Even though I didn't ride. I was quite impressed with the new
water park. There was plenty of lounge chairs for you to sit back
and relax. My friends wanted to do some water slides, so I found a
lounge chair and had a few drinks and enjoyed the rest.
Seventh stop - Raging Wolf Bobs - Walk on (back seat)
This little baby never ceases to amaze me. With the retracking
done recently she rides alot smoother and seems to be quicker.
Plenty of air time to boot.
Eight stop - Dominator - 10 min wait (front seat)
Even though I have heard several people say the this B&M is
sort of rough I like it. They were basically turning off the mid
ride brake run so you hit the corkscrews at the end of the ride
flying like crazy. I have to give a big shout out to the crew
working they were great.
Ninth stop - Texas Twister - walk on
Belive it or not this was my first ride on this one. I liked
it, but once was enough for me.
Final stop - X-Flight - 20 min wait (second row)
My friend had never riden this before so we saved it for last.
They were blown away. I still can't help but get nervous when the
car flips over and your body drops against the retraints. I think
your mind goes HEY I DON'T LIKE THIS, but you heart says BRING IT ON.
Overall it was a great day and a great stress relief for me. I
was worried that I was not going to get to ride this summer, because
I have been so busy at work this year.
The only let downs that I had were that The Villan and Steel
Venom were not running. The only bad thing all day was the
bathrooms. The one by the main entrance on the ride side was very
nice, but the ones in the back and an the water side were very dirty.
I hope CF addresses this problem in coming seasons. Even with this
drawback the park is gaining some of its old charm back, and I will
return again next year.
