I was just wondering:
I am planning on working up at the Point next summer. I'm 18 now and will turn 19 towards the start of the season. So, all you CP employees, what are my chances of getting hired as a ride op my first year? I really, really want to op on Raptor but I did not know if you had to "climb the ladder" to work a ride like that. If not, do you have any tips for me so I can increase my chances of being a Raptor op?
Thanks!
Michael
Welcome back Raptor riders! Tell me, How was your flight?! :)
On the application, there will be three number codes for job choices -- one of them is ride op, another is any job in Park Operations, and then lots of others, of course. What worked for me to get where I want is I called them about 10 days after I sent my application, and then talked to whomever and told them where I wanted to be. Since I called and sent my application in early enough, it wasn't a problem! Good luck!

You can work at CP as young as 14, but to stay in the dorms you have to be either 18 years old, or be 17 and have graduated from high school. Sorry!

Funny thing. They say you can work there at 14 but do not tell you were you can work on the application.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
According to Ohio law, all ride operators must be at least 16 years of age.
I have heard that it is Cedar Point's corporate policy that ride operators must be at least 18 years of age. As I do not work for CP nor have I ever, there is a distinct possibility that I am wrong about their age restrictions.

Ok, here's a question, which is faster. The application you snail mail in, or the online application. (My definition of fast is how long it takes the person to read it.)

Ages 14-16 can work in Merchandise, foods (certain stands), and games. 16-17 can work the same areas, though with a few less restrictions, and they can also work as sweepers. 14-17 can also work in housekeeping. All ride ops must be 18 because of the equipment and all that. Hope this helps! *Smile*

I applied via the net and was emailed 3 days later from Mike Renfrew (may he rest in peace in his water park in jersey). When you have your interview you can ask for a praticular ride, but it doesn't mean you'll get it.
Just as a side note - its great to be back online, I missed this place.

Signature of the week: "Snake River Falls down?! NO WAY!!"
when should i apply? (date wise)
thanks for all your help everyone!
It depends on the date your school lets out for the summer. For example, if your finals week is May 6-12, then put May 15 on your application.
You should apply as soon as you can get a 2001 application, usually late November or early December. Dont forget you can fill one out online at the official site, or you can request a employment information package that should have an application in it.
