getting from the station

Hi,

Planning my first trip in june, as part of a big US coaster tour (from the UK)!

one thing is - I don't drive,. so will be relying on public transport and taxis (yeh, I know!)

I'd had 2 ideas for how to plan this

1 - Travel into sandusky greyhound station on monday 11th, and 3 nights in a hotel - with 2 full days at the park (fly back on thursday). Would be able to get a taxi from the coach station no probs.

2 - go to kennywood on the tuesday, and then get the train to sandusky, but the train arrives at 4am on wednesday - so I was wondering if there were any waiting rooms or other facilities at the station? or indeed anything to do whilst I wait (I'm guessing there'll be no taxis at 4....)... doing this - I'd get 1.5 days in (including early entry) (If I did this, I'd go to the hotel breakers on site for 1 night)

Thanks

You may be able to book inadvance and have them meet you at the platform, or you could check to see if your hotel has a shuttle service that could pick you up?
Hope this helps!

Weird-it didn't take my whole post-sorry.

Basically, there is only a platform with nothing but an icky restroom at the Amtrak drop off in Sandusky. Also, it is in a not-so-safe part of town. Here's some info for a couple of 24-hour cab companies in town-they might be able to meet you there.

AM-PM 24-7 taxi service

Okay-I must be doing something wrong-if you google "taxi service in Sandusky Ohio", you will get results for 2 different 24 hour services, whose info I have been trying to give you-sorry about the mess, good luck with your trip!

Thanks!

I'm booked into the breakers hotel, will probably use one of those taxis to get to the hotel and lurk in the lobby - I guess they're open 24 hiours???

The Greyhound thing might be your best bet, as the trains can be quite unreliable sometimes. Either way, you'll have no problem getting a taxi at any time if you call them in advance and schedule it. Heading to the Breakers lobby might be your best bet, or if you can afford it, book an additional night so you can just check in when you arrive at 4 AM.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I'm already booked on the train though - (greyhound from pittsburgh's timings just didn't fit in), and even if it is 3-4 hours late, it won't really matter!!
