I have read a ton of posts on getting a job and housing at Cedar Point. I have read a lot of bad things on housing, etc. so I have a few questions. I live in St. Louis, how does the hiring process work when living outside the state (interview, drug testing, training, etc.)? Is the housing really as bad as they say (rats, dirty, etc.)? Also, does anybody ever rent an apartment in the Sandusky area instead of using the housing Cedar Point has? If money isn't a big issue, do you recommend doing that? I'm really interested in working for Cedar Point next year as I really enjoy the park, I visit every year, and glad to be apart of the forums here!
Housing can be bad, but it also isn't. Its cheap and right outside of the point. If you keep your room clean and managed you won't have issues. If your room has bed bugs as that is a huge problem in the dorms, get your room burned and that's that. I had two roommates who were clean freaks like me so we didn't have any issues. No bed bugs, no smell, nothing. You only use the dorms for sleeping, occasionally eating, and maybe some activities, but that's about it.
You can stay off point if you want and that's fine. There are several people I know that have/are doing that. Basically you have no restrictions, personal wifi, and can be cheap if you get roommates. I'm sure these people will chirp in here at some point.
Either choice is yours to make though, I don't have a problem with either.
