George R

For those that don't know, the Judy K. is named after Dick Kinzel's wife. From what I heard, there was some mutterin among the ranks about naming an engine after a)a woman and b)a live woman at that.

Not a concern of mine but interesting trivia. *** This post was edited by Chief Wahoo on 7/27/2001. ***

"Are you saying I'm fat!"

What's up with that short and little midget train that they have in front of the engine house? Of course it's not really a train, just a metal frame or shell with no hardware on it. Its size reminds me of the train that they used a long time ago that you can see on C.P.'s historical videotape. It's also very similar (in size) to the one that they use in Kiddy Kingdom. Any idea why it just sits there?
Used for moving cars around... setting up red or green trains...

1999. That's when they swapped it to the Disney folks for their "Ward Kimball" (named after one of their head animators). I'm pretty sure that Disney is running it in California, not Florida.

RGR-

How did the old "Maud L" look when you saw her in Jan.?
I was told by a CP & LE  RR worker the George R. is for emergency use only, when one of the 2 regular engines breaks down. The reason George is used that way is because it is a LARGER and HEAVIER engine and would cause the track and bridges to take a beating.
"for emergency use only".  Sounds like George is going out to save Judy...

Our engines are George R. named for George Roose

Myron H., named for a former superintendent of the engine house, Judky K.  named for Judy Kinzle, those run.  We also have Jennie K., behind the engine house, Albert, and 'The Disney Engine'.  Teh short little engine, lovingly called the Mike M.  is used to pull the engines in and out of the engine house.  It is also used for track workint he off season.

I have been told that Jennie and Albert, though not currently operable, are still in condition where they could be fixed to be used.  They're not completely dead yet.  I have heard a coupel reasons why George doesn't get used much, I don't know what the truth is, but here ya go.  a.)  he uses too mcuh coal, and we can't afford to run him b.)  he is so heavy that he damages the track, and they are worried abotu the two bridges.  Don't quote me on those, or bash me if I am wrong, that's just what I have heard.
