Hi there,
I will be visiting CP later this week, and I would like some tips and advice since I've never been to the park (we are from Brazil!)
I searched the forums a lot already... This is my plan of attack so far ;)
We are driving from MI, day trip, not staying on site
- I can visit the park on Thursday, friday or sunday (aug 8th, 9th or 11th)... What do you think it is going to be best option?
- I have a 1yo baby... I am planning to park at the Gemini lot (following forum recommendations) and take the entrance near Magnum. Where is the closest place where I can get the parent swap slip?? It really works?
- Can I find any attractions for my little guy?
- Coasters order... I am thinking Maverick first, millennium, Dragster to start... What do you think? Any recommendations?? (not planning to ride mean streak - it is true that hurts your neck/ back??)
Thanks in advance!! ;)
(Very excited, anxious and scared!!)
I vote for Thursday. Better chance for thinner crowds.
There are two children areas.
Yes, Mean Streak is mean.
Parent Swap Passes are the best! You give the pass to the ride op, and then when you exit, the other party goes up the exit (can bring a guest) and tells the op at the gate the last name - may have to wait a round or two, but you get in fairly quick.
You can get the parent swap passes, usually at the back gate entrance. However, it is a hit and miss. If they do not have the passes at the Back that day, then the closest place is the Town Hall, back over by Sky Hawk.
Happy Travels!!
Thanks guys!
Glad to hear about the parent swap... I was concerned that we will have trouble trying both of us to have fun!
Ok, I will try to go on thursday... Hopefully we will have a smooth flight the day before!
What about the coasters order, any advice?
Now I am here wondering... Another "mean" coaster that I should avoid with my bad back?? ;)
Thanks
Sounds like fun. I'd choose Thursday or Sunday. Those two days are going to be the best chance of a small crowd. I'd go with the day that has better weather honestly.
What Ben said. Thursday will probably be the better day crowd wise, but if the weather doesn't look good, Sunday works too. I'm not sure if they have the parent swap at the Magnum gate. You may need to go to either Town Hall (near Skyhawk) or Park Operations (near Kiddy Kingdom) to pick one up. They are very convenient to have!
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
You can get a parent swap at any of the main coaster rides. I recommend Thursday as well and if you get there at opening, get to Maverick as soon as possible because it will be the shortest line for it of the day. Be sure to check out Cedar Point's web page for kiddie ride restrictions, not sure what they have for hand held tots. I hope you have a good time!

Hitting the rides at the back of the park first is a good idea. I would save the big front of park coasters for the evening (rapter, gatekeeper and wicked twister).
If you are planning on driving back to Michigan that night I recommend a couple hours of downtime in the middle of the day (1:00 to 3:00 or so) to refresh. Maybe a nice long sit down meal, a couple air conditioned shows or just some time relaxing in the shade. That will be the most crowded and hotest part of the day.
Scope out the closest kid friendly rides to each of the big coasters ahead of time. Someone with experience on here should be able to tell you what is appropriate for a 1 year old.

Mean streak isn't so bad. They did some major track work in the off season. If you're from brazil, sounds like you might not make it back to cedar point before mean streak comes down. I really regret never getting on the orient express... Just save it for the end of the day. If it turns out you don't like it, it won't interfere with other coasters because you will have already rode them all and at least you can say you tried.
Top Steel: New Texas Giant
Top Wood: Timberwolf (don't judge me..)
Thank you all!
But now I have a problem... Our flight is delayed, so not able to visit the park on thursday! :(
For friday the weather forecast is "isolated t storms, chance of rain 30%"
Sunday is "mostly sunny" BUT I am concerned because is the last day to use the tickets if you bought during the Christmas in july promotion... Would you expect larger crowds because of that??
I would say Friday would be better than Sunday and the threat of storms could keep potential park goers away.

I'd vote for Friday too. That kind of forecast along the lakeshore means you have a good chance of not seeing any rain at all, and if you do, it will probably be brief. Plus it could cut down on the crowds a little bit.
