Gemini 25

Though opening day is still about a month a way, my friend Mr. Magnum and I are already planning opening day. Mr. Magnum though, wants to do a Gemini 25 in honor of Gemini's 25th birthday.

I have a question for all you seasoned pros:

Given that its opening day, and the ride will probably be almost a walk-on (if running 4 or 6 trains that is), how long would it take to do 25 rides in a row? I would like to cover all the coasters in one day (except WE and JG), and would like to know if doing a Gemini 25 marathon would hurt the chances of doing that too much.

Also, (though this might be a question for Meetings and Gatherings), since I have a season pass, is there a better time I should do the Gemini 25? Also, maybe we here at GTTP could maybe plan a get-together one day to honor one of Cedar Point's greatest coasters, either on opening day, or at some other point in the season.

P.S. My highest coaster count for a single coaster last season was 18 for Magnum (in 7 visits). I hope 25 in 1 day for 1 coaster isn't too excesive, is it? Or should I build up to it?

A few of us GTTPers can vouch that it takes an ENTIRE day (10am-10pm) to ride Gemini 100x. My closest calculation says we averaged 25 rides in about 3 hours. If you really want to do this on OD, I would recommend riding all the other coasters 1st, then trying the 25 on Gemini. Only because later in the day is the better chance of them running all the trains, plus if you don't succeed you still got on all the coasters.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

I wouldn't expect to see 6 train op on Gemini on opening day. This offseason is just as short (or shorter) as last offseason was and there was really barely enough time for the maintanence guys to do their thing with the trains.

Anybody remember Magnum on OD last year? I had several rides I couldn't get my lap bar to open. I guess toward the end of the night there was a girl who had to cycle a few times until maintance could get there to let her off the train...

Yeah six trains is not going to happen opening day, not cause of maintanence, all the trains will be probably be ready since we'll rotate trains, but... new crew... six trains, not a good idea unless you like fifteen minute rides on the Gemini! :)

Just ride TTD last. Get in line 10 min before the park closes. Then you can just wait in line after the park closes, so it wont be like you wasted your day.

Now that I've thought more about it, the Gemini 25 may be more difficult to pull off on opening day, because the park is only open 10 hours and not at full capacity. I think we should wait until the park is in mid-season form before we try to ride the park's most popular ride 25 times in a row.

What day did Gemini open in '78? I have heard that Gemini was not ready for opening day and it had to open later in the season? Could someone answer this because Gemini's ride night is supposed to be on its actual opening day and it would be nice to take that day off and go ride it 25x's myself since I can't opening day.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

Well i plan on riding Gemeni 25 times in a row this summer, but not on opening day. i will be riding TTD once or twice, and some other rides that day, having a season pass is awesome and lets me enjoy the day even more when i don't have to ride all the rides in one day everytrip.

Mark, I think that Gemini opened on June 17. Or at least Mr Kinzel says that's when he's going to ride to celebrate the ride's 25th birthday! :) It was mentioned in Cedar Fair's annual report.

I think you can easily pull this off, but not on opening day.

Closing day would be a better bet, or some cool Sunday in September.
