Is there any way that us "non-participants" would be able to buy a Gemini 100 button over the internet via PayPal, or somthing else simple. Unless they have names on them....
I was just kinda wondering, because I need some more crazy stuff to pin on my hoody :).

Wow, a whole 100 laps on Gemini...Weaklings... Try 13 on Corkscrew.;)
Screw laps: 13 and counting.
Sorry to bust your guys bubble but i rode the ride back in 95 116 times. I didnt think i could do it but i did. The only problem is that i tried to go on 125 times (125 year anniversary), but I was cut short. The ride opened about 9:45 and closed at 12:00 midnight. That is without seatbelts and a 12:00 closing. I pretty much rode it straight through. If you need verification I dont have any. The employees were cheering me on, that was about all. You can believe it or not, but all you have to do is make sure that the park is busy enough for three trains on each to run all day, that means just enough of a wait so they dont start closing trains. Also it has to be a non-interupted day(you have the bathrooms right next to you, and some of CP's famous fries to eat. It wears you down. Avoid the last seat of the car(it gets bumpy which gives you a headache) Eventually your rest is actually riding the ride. I dont know how you will do with the seat belts. good luck

Ok.. wasn't planning on doing this... BUT...
Looks like I may have to try it.. Was at the park yesterday adn talking to Tony and Sabrina on Gemini and they kinda talked me into it. Tony remembers my 68 rides in one day on MF back in MM days last year and the fact that I was SOOO tired... So I think I'm up for it..
Hre we are.. the 12th of May and I've been there 4 days already, and yes I'm going tomorrow.. Mom is out of town.

I look forward to seeing all of you attempt this. I would join in, but I am going to be working. I'll be cheering you on from controls. Good luck!
No bubbles busted Don...we figured it was done before..were not attempting a record here..

I am quite inspired by the Gemini 100. I think it would make a great story for broadcast. Especially the before and after shots. I am considering doing a videograhy on the event. Would anyone watch it ? I shoot DVC Pro digital for ch10 in Michigan. When we are done we could send a package to the local news stations. I am sure they will run it. I would meet up with you guys at Fridays that morning and shoot on and off till the end with the victorious winners. I just need to get clearance from CP PR so we can get some good shots on the platform. What do you think ??

:) "Did you know this goes up-side down" :)
I think it's a great idea, personally.

FWIW, I agree...terrific idea!

IMHO, I don't think we need media coverage. Why you might ask because we are not breaking any records and it has been done before. But I would buy a tape of the event.

I think any media coverage after the event couldn't hurt. It doesn't have to be a record setter, but it IS an event with a large number of people, so it would be something cool to look back on after it's over. Dan's already planning on video taping some of it, but hey, the more the merrier. I guess I'd better find which is my best side for the camera.

Smile, you're on Gemini camera....
FWIW, yeah, it's not a record-breaker, but it could be a good summertime human interest bit with the media. Lord knows there's dumb stuff on TV all the time...why not this?

Yeah!!! We are the poster children of dumb with this event! We must be videotaped and studied to warn future generations of what not to become! It would be uncivilized not to!

............? 100 what?
I will be there with my gear to cover this event. I scheduled June 11. I would like to produce it like a survivor type deal. Who could I get to volunteer themselves for coverage at the beginning, middle and end ? I will meet up with you at breakfast that morning. I am trying to obtain permission to shoot some footage on the platform, maybe midday and toward the end of the night. What ride ops may be there that day ? Sure it's not a record breaker, but no one has done anything like this in a while, at least I haven't seen it. Folks would check it out. Everyone I mention this to says, "Oh, wow cool."
Here is some links that might help you out:
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/co_info/public_relations.cfm http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/co_info/broadcast_guidelines.cfm I have a couple of ideas:
Maybe you could get a shot of everyone entering the park. Also maybe a quick interview with the crew and the people who make it to 100.

I suggest everyone read the broadcast guidelines.. some very interesting things in there.. Remember people, when oyu start something like this, there are legal issues no matter what..
This IS America, land of the lawsuit.. hehehe

*Edit Note: (Sorry, I do not recommend contacting any media station for this event as I may have previously suggested.) End Note*
I suppose I could tell some of the stations up here near Detroit. I know some people from channel 2 and 4.
Are there going to be any other folks from MI attending Gemini 100?

Again.. I wouldn't go calling ANY media without clearin git through CP HQ otherwise it may all be moot. You're talking about a large company here with interests to protect people...
