I think that CF should just turn GL into the Schlitterbahn Water park of the north east I mean that's what I think they have on there mind anyway, isn"t it? I just hope they put the Dominator in CP somewhere.

I was at Geauga Lake today and the line for the Villian actually was using some of the queue space it has. Dominator was about to use its queue space it was getting packed at that coaster. The only time Our rides were walk on was when the park opened and no one was there yet. We walked on to Big Dipper and Head Spin. And then everything started to have big lines. Of course the waterpark was packed.

On a Sunday? Cool. Anyone there Saturday? We had great weather this whole weekend.

it was Cleveland Clinic weekend...

My signature was edited because it was more than three lines. I'm naughty!

I was there on Sunday, and before I could not figure out why attendance was flat, now I think I have a better understanding. They cannot handle large crowds. We arrived at 2:00 and already there were a great number of people leaving the park. My wife and I came for the water park, and were disappointed to find out that there were no lockers left, anywhere on the water park side. We complained and found out that nobody at the park could give a straight answer as to why the amount of locker space cannot meet the capacity of the water park. As we did not want to leave or keys out in the open and we could not get our keys wet we decided against the water park.

The rest of our experience was no better. The employees were rude and blamed their problems on the large crowd. The floating bridge bobbed up and down so much, from the heavy foot traffic that it almost made you sea sick. Fortunately the ride were operating efficiently, but it appears as if nothing is being done to Repair Wolf Bobs. How can Geagua Lake expect to draw larger crowds, when the days that they do have larger crowds they cannot satisfy their customers? I just hope that this day did not turn away too many people.

Part of the problem with the waterpark lockers could be those electronic lockers that they use. Since they are all day rentals and there is no key to return, they have no way to know if a locker is no longer in use. If they used lockers with keys that were checked out and returned to a counter then when the key was returned they could re-use the locker.

I could be wrong, but I thought the all day rental lockers had a deposit, once you came back for the deposit they know the locker is free. Correct?

In regards to the Bobs, they could still be investigating the reason as to the failure. I'd hope they scrutinize the problem rather than just doing a quick fix which could result in another failure. Just look at how long SOB has been down.

I think that they have to just put in one big coaster and get some attencion back at vthe park. if they have the attencion with a 200 footer or so they can move on and keep adding new additions to keep the park open. I think that the reason they are not doing this is to keep crowds from leaving Cp but Cp is not struggling in the least every time ive been there this year ( which is about 6 times) it has been packed. I really liked Geauga Lake last year and was extremely dissapointed to hear when they were getting rid of 2 of the best 4 rides so now i believe they either have to move everything out ( dominator to Cp preferably) of the Amusement park side or Go big on one coaster to get people coming back

Because just building one big coaster and investing millions of dollars on a park thats barely making money is surely the way to go.

Hey, Six Flags tried it four times! It worked... er, no wait... it failed miserably.

Well the thread has gone full circle, from complaining that the park was empty to complaining that it was too crowded. :)

Delbert -

You happened to visit GL on Cleveland Clinic day - one of the busiest days of the year! I have been to WWK many times and have always been able to get a locker - even when WWK was packed! The extra guests could also account for the floating bridge bobbing up and down so much. I have been on it many times and while it does move (hence the floating part) it was never that bad. As far as RWB, although you might not have noticed anyone working on it - how do you know they dont work on it when there is no one at the park?

Jason, as far as I know there is no deposit on the electronic lockers, you just put your money in the slot and it assigns you a locker for the day.

i think its like a dollar for like 3 hours?

and 6 for all day?

Jason Hammond's avatar

That doesn't sound right. Unless the 3 hour locker is a single use and the all day is unlimited use.

its computerized. so, after 3 hours they unlock. and i do think all day is umlimted.

I have been to many parks on abnormally crowded days. i.e. Cedar Point on Whirl Pool Day, The fourth of July and Sturday Holloweekends and besides some longer lines it was a normal day. Some areas (the locker and changing areas to name a few) in Geagua Lake on Cleveland Clinic were in a state of chaos. There was a crowd of people going from locker bank to locker bank checking screens to find out that no lockers were available. When you would ask about additional lockers the staff directed you back to the lockers that you had just checked. I would have been pleased if there were even small wallet sized lockers to use, or if I could lock things up in the rides side of the park, but neither one of these things were an option.

In response to Jeff's comment. My line of reasoning is this... Cedar Fair blames poor attendance on the fact that they have a good product, people just don't know about it yet. On Sunday it appeared to me that Geagua Lake showed most of Cleveland a bad product. Don't get me wrong I know that normally Geagua Lake is a great park, but if the staff cannot step up on busy days many of the people that have attended on that day will not be back.

Okay. I dont think geauga lake will buy 40 thosand more lockers just for one day. And how did the "staff" not step up?
