We rode it in the morning Aug 1st in the back left of the bronze train, and it was actually SMOOTH. We were like "no way" best ride we had in a while. Seriously this ride is bi-polar. It's just like a person: a very pretty girl who has attitude problems and lives on the beach.
I think Miss Maverick has the right idea. How about these reports include what train you were on. The bi-polar theme to these reports makes me think this issue is train specific.

How about the restraints? Can you at least breathe? Heard bad things about it.
Rode it twice in a row yesterday due to no wait. First time we sat back seat on the right and second time about 3 seats up from the back on the left. First ride my hands and arms were entirely numb due to the soft restraints tightening so much during the course of the ride. I am on the skinny side, but I rode it back in June and never had a problem. Thought it was a fluke so I went on it a second time yesterday and same thing. By the time we stopped and waited to get off my hands and arms were completely numb. Couldn't wait for them to let me out. Apparently they are aware of the problem and are looking into it though. My friend who has a pretty average body type had no problems with the restraints. I did notice some pretty rough patches after the keyholes too. I hope they work things out with it. As of now I don't really care to ride again.
I went on this yesterday and I'm having the same problems as everyone else. The outside seats are painfully bad and the inside seats still aren't the best. The restraints are getting worse as well. It's really sad because in May this ride was amazing and now it's.. dare I say it.. Bad. If they fix the restraint and vibration issue I will love it again, but the vibrations just hurt! Especially when you're being suffocated.
Banshee will suffocate people too....check out the restraint system for Banshee! bad move KI and B&M!
Mark me down in the minority of people who had no problem at all with the restraints. I actually enjoy them more so than the typical OTSRs. I do agree with the vibration BUT in no way does that change my mind that this is a great ride.
There's nothing wrong with the restraints. There's simply something wrong with your body.

I don't think that is the case.. Considering many people are complaining about it. 2 out of 3 times I had a problem with them. If it were my body type I think it would have done it 3 out of 3 times. Plus they are looking into it so it IS a known problem. If a coaster can only cater to very few body types then what good is it?
Hulk, there's a problem with your sarcasm detector. You might want to have that thing checked out.

oh thank goodness. :-) haha gatekeeper must have broke it.
I searched gatekeeper vibrations and found this page. I purposely registers just to report on my first ride my neck felt like it was going to vibrate my head off my body. Very bad first experience. I was riding on the left outside about 4 rows back.
My wife rode right after me and said it was her favorite ride because of how smooth it was. I was like wtf. And want to now ride again before we go.
This ride wasn't that great when it was smooth. Now that it features painful vibrations throughout, I'm not even sure it's worth riding anymore.
I attended a catered event at the Point yesterday (Saturday), which included ERT on Gatekeeper from 8-9am.
I got five rides in, including one in each corner. These rides were on various trains, I might add, with some in an outside seat and others on an inside seat.
The vibrations have gotten jarring, IMO. It's to the point where I can't enjoy the ride because I'm so attentive to my brain being shaken about. The outside seats were the worst, but the inside ones were only mildly better.
I also find it interesting that this is the first new ride Cedar Point has added in a while that I hear people (i.e. non-enthusiast friends and family members) openly complain about, weter due to "roughness" or general boring-ness.
Thrills Around the Corner!
I think someone might have brought this up before but for those following this thread and the other How Was Your Ride thread, how about those still riding Gatekeeper take note of what train they are on whether it is a smooth ride or vibrating one? Perhaps it is train specific.

So Is Everyone getting off Gatekeeper saying they don't like it? This is sad because I like it! I LIKE GATEKEEPER!
Maybe Tony will read this because he posts on here sometimes, and will mention to the park about our comments from here.
I am hoping to get to CP at the end of this season and will ride regardless. Are the bulk of the comments negative because the thread title is proclaiming a negative sentiment or is there generally a issue of roughness to the ride. This is the first I've heard of it. Previously only complaints of the chest restraints tightening very strongly (via twitter) which I've experienced on Wild Eagle.
For what it's worth for comparison I rode Wild Eagle at the end it's first year and it was smooth with only general "flapping" on the outer seats on the final helix's. This was consistent on each train and every ride like an expected part of the design. Never a vibration or roughness anywhere which I usually attribute to wheels melting out of round.
So many comments that GateKeeper was so rough that it was unenjoyable is difficult for me to believe, of course I'm not calling anyone a liar... just very surprised.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the lights not working?
*Just an add on to the closed thread about how far you will be traveling to ride GateKeeper... 700 Miles.
^ I started this topic because I was referring to the fact that gatekeeper was rough and caused vibrations at times when I rode, and many people who posted here agreed, yet some said it was smooth. I guess it all depends on time of day/seat/train you ride.
Also a good topic for the park ops to read this if they find it :)
i rode it yesterday, got in line around 2:30 only had to wait 30 min. i sat in the 6th row, left side and right out of the first drop is very rough and my seat always kept vibrating the whole ride. it was uncomfterbale and it was rough. i had never had a problem with gatekeeper before it was always smooth but this time it was rough.
